Nur-Sultan, January 11 (Xinhua) -- On January 11, local time, Kazakh President Tokayev announced a package of reform measures at a parliamentary meeting held on the same day.
According to the Harbin News Agency, Tokayev said that in the political field, salary increases for government officials and parliamentarians at all levels will be suspended for 5 years to strengthen direct dialogue between government representatives and the people; in the security field, Kazakhstan plans to reorganize the armed forces, law enforcement departments and national security agencies, promote the reform of the law enforcement system, combat religious extremism, and protect citizens, constitutional order and national sovereignty to the greatest extent; in the economic field, Tokayev instructed the government to formulate a 2022 government action plan and study the introduction of systematic anti-inflation measures. Stabilize the financial and foreign exchange markets and restore investor confidence.
In addition, Tokayev also said at the meeting that the mission of the CCE peacekeeping force has been successfully completed and will begin in two days with a phased withdrawal from Kazakhstan, and the withdrawal process will not exceed 10 days. (End)
