Brunei, located in southeastern Asia and bordering the South China Sea to the north, has a total area of 5,765 square kilometers and was fully independent in 1984. Although its area is not large, its economy is very high, and it can even compete with Japan and South Korea. Brunei is also a country with crude oil and natural gas as its main economic pillars, and half of its GDP comes from these two. In Southeast Asia, its oil reserves and production are second only to Indonesia. Brunei's GDP per capita in 2016 ranked 26th in the world.
Few people know that Brunei was founded by a "Chinese traitor." Today, Brunei's 50,000 Chinese claim to be Chinese. What the hell is going on?
Huang Senping, formerly known as Huang Yuanshou, a Han Chinese from Quanzhou, Fujian, joined the army in the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, and followed Zhu Yuanzhang in the southern expedition to the northern war. After the establishment of the Ming Dynasty, he was made the chief of the Tengchong Guard in Yongchang, Yunnan by Zhu Yuanzhang. At that time, the coastal area of the Wokou was raging, and Zhu Yuanzhang sent him to encircle and suppress the Wokou. Huang Yuanshou was distinguished in his resistance to the Wu Dynasty at Senping Beach in the South China Sea, so Zhu Yuanzhang specially gave him the name "Huang Senping" and also sent him on a mission to today's Kalimantan Island.
So Huang Senping, with his entire family and neighbors, a total of thousands of people, arrived at Kalimantan Island via The South Crossing of Myanmar. They landed at the mouth of a large river in East Kalimantan, but unexpectedly there was a shipwreck. This caused huang Senping and others, who were already exhausted, to be seriously injured, and some people's arms were broken. He established a Chinese regime on this great river with the survivors, and his power expanded rapidly and his prestige was tremendous.
The Bohai state, later Brunei, which was weakened at the time, was often required to pay tribute and pay taxes to it because of its control over Indonesia. In addition, the Sultanate of Sulu in the southern Philippines has also been invaded. In this case, the king of the Bohai state, Mahmu Sha, had to ask huang Senping's Chinese forces for help, and in order to show his sincerity, he married his daughter to him and let his brother marry his sister. In this way, the two regimes formed a close alliance because of their marriage. Thanks to the efforts of Huang Senping and the Chinese army, the Sulu invasion was contained, so the Boni state avoided the fate of the fall of the country.
After that, the Chinese forces developed from Kalimantan in the east to the northern coast, and successively established cities such as Chinatown and Chinatown, which are now the big cities of Kota Kinabalu and China rut in eastern Malaysia. In 1402, Mahmusha died and was succeeded by his son Abdul Majid Hassan. Four years later, Abdu also died, and the throne was vacant in Bohai. During this period, a series of political struggles took place in Bohai, and finally Ahmed, who was inclined to Huang Senping, succeeded to the throne, which further enhanced his position in Bohai.
Huang Senping, who has struggled in Nanyang for most of his life, has never forgotten the motherland, even if he is called a "traitor". In 1408, he returned to China with his relatives and subordinates. Ming Chengzu Zhu Di warmly received them and let them return to their hometown to visit. Due to Huang Senping's advanced age and the joy of returning to his hometown, in December, Huang Senping arrived in Nanjing and died of a bumpy and overworked journey.
Before his death, he proposed to Ming Chengzu that bohai and other lands be included in the territory of China, and allowed him to be buried in China after his death. Ming Chengzu agreed to his request, buried Huang Senping outside the Ande Gate in Nanjing, and made his son Huang Kesun the new king of Boni, no longer allowing Boni to pay tribute.
After the European colonists came east, bohai's relations with China were completely cut off, and they became a British colony, and the name of the country was changed to Brunei. At the beginning of the last century, when Brunei imitated the West in creating the national flag, it deliberately added two slashes to the flag to commemorate the two founding princes, one of which refers to Huang Senping.
