Historically, Kangxi did make six southern tours. On the 28th day of the ninth lunar month in 1684, Kangxi's first southern tour was officially launched, which was intended to observe the people's feelings, and the expenses along the way were supplied by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, that is, Kangxi paid for it himself and did not use the national treasury.
However, although Qianlong, who had always greatly respected his grandfather, followed suit everywhere in governing the country, when he went to Jiangnan six times, his style was very different from that of Kangxi, who advocated frugality, and he was criticized by later generations for promoting teachers and moving the masses, and even triggered a rumor about his origin.
Son of Yongzheng, from the Chen family in Haining?
According to folklore, on the night of August 13, 50th year of the Kangxi Dynasty, the Gege-identified Niu Cobalt Lu clan gave birth to a baby girl for prince Yong, which made Yin Chan, who had never had a son, very anxious. At about the same time, The wife of Chen Shiqian, who was good friends with Yin Chan, also gave birth to a baby boy.
In order to increase the chips for taking the wife, Yin Chan, who was still the fourth son of the emperor at the time, let the Chen family take the baby boy under the pretext of watching the child, but the returned baby changed from a baby boy to a baby girl, and the Chen family was shocked but could only swallow their anger, and this baby boy was the future Qianlong.
After succeeding to the throne, Qianlong went down to Jiangnan six times, and on the surface, he went on official business, but four of them lived in Chen Shiqiao's private garden garden, the purpose of which was to visit his biological parents, and Mr. Jin Yong's first martial arts masterpiece was based on this story background.
Tianzi went out on tour, did not live in the palace, did not live in the official office, but repeatedly stayed in Chen Shiqiao's mansion, which looked like "the emperor's grace was vast", and the reason why the Chen family could bear such a long favor was really because Chen Shiqiao was related to Qianlong by blood? Who is he?
Chen Shiqi (陈世倌), also spelled Bingzhi, was born in 1680 in Haining County, Zhejiang Province. The Chen clan is very noble, many of the ancestors have entered the army and are extremely popular subjects, and after entering the Qing Dynasty, there is no shortage of high-ranking people, which is a veritable family of officials and eunuchs.
Chen Shi's father served successively as Gongbu Shangshu and Libu Shangshu during the Kangxi Dynasty, and his mother Cha Shi was once named Lady Yipin by Yongzheng, and Chen Shiqiao was also ranked in 1703 with two other members of the Chen family, and Chen Shiqiu, who had won the jinshi, was promoted to a bachelor's degree from Sipin.
In 1736, the first year of Qianlong, Chen Shiqian began to serve as the left deputy capital Yushi, who was the deputy official of the Qing Dynasty's legal and disciplinary supervision organ Duchayuan, and then served as a scholar of Wenyuange University and a shangshu of the Rebbe, and returned to his hometown in 1757 and died the following year.
So, who did Qianlong want to visit when he went down to Jiangnan four times?
According to historical records, Qianlong did not visit Haining during his first and second trips to Jiangnan, and during his stay in Chen Shikuo's private garden, he never summoned anyone in the Chen family.
Following the example of Kangxi, he made six southern tours
The reason why Qianlong lived in the Chen family's private garden garden was because the Qiantang River Haitang Engineering Project he was inspecting was located in Haining, a remote county. In addition to the private gardens owned by the wealthy Chen family, there is no better place for the tangtang tianzi to stay.
It can be seen that Qianlong's stay in the Chen Family Garden is just a convenience of geographical advantages, and there is no secret that cannot be told.
His purpose in going down to Jiangnan, like Kangxi's, was to inspect water conservancy projects, to co-opt Han bureaucrats and literati, and to consolidate national unity.
On the thirteenth day of the first lunar month in 1751, Qianlong's first southern tour departed from the capital and passed through Hebei and Shandong to the south. When he came to Hongze Lake in Jiangsu Province to inspect, in order to avoid flooding and causing floods, Qianlong ordered the original three dams of Hongze Lake to be increased to five.
When the river went down to the south of the river three times, Qianlong stipulated that the water on the upper dam of Hongze Lake rose by one foot, and the gate of the lower dam could be opened to ten zhang, and the river officials obeyed this regulation, which avoided the officials from arbitrarily opening the gates and discharging floods in order to shirk their responsibilities, resulting in floods downstream.
After the disposal of Hongze Lake, there is also the Haitang Project in Haining, Zhejiang. At that time, there was a disagreement over the construction of the Haitang project, and the river officials were arguing endlessly over whether to build a stone pond or a chaitang, so Qianlong immediately rushed to the scene the day after arriving in Haining and personally tried to drive the pile.
If you want to build a solid stone pond, you must move dozens of meters from the old stone pond to drive piles, so it is very likely to destroy the cultivated land and villages of the nearby people, Qianlong felt that this was contrary to the original intention of building a to protect the people, so he decided to build a simple chai pond first.
The haitang project lasted for a long time, and later Qianlong revisited the inspection and found that the chai pond was not as strong as the stone pond after all, and ordered the construction of the fish scale stone pond at a suitable location. By the late Qianlong period, the Haitang Project was completed for 490 miles, which effectively guaranteed the prosperity of the Jiangnan water town.
In addition to worrying about water conservancy, Qianlong did not forget his other important purpose. When Qianlong went down to Jiangnan, the tax burden of all the places he went to could be reduced or reduced, and a large number of officials who took over the driving were also greatly rewarded, and even those who directly added officials to the rank of knight.
In 1762, Mei Yicheng, the grandson of the famous Qing Dynasty mathematician Mei Wending, came to Huaiyin, Jiangsu Province, to take over, and Qianlong saw that Mei Yicheng, who had served as the imperial history of Zuo Du, was poor, and several sons failed to enter the dynasty as officials, so he specially rewarded Mei Yicheng's eldest son as a person.
Folklore, but catch the wind and catch the shadow
There are many stories that happened in Qianlong's six journeys to Jiangnan, but the claim that he was the son of Chen Shiqi was the most absurd but the most widely circulated. However, Qianlong's attitude toward Chen Shiqi, who has always regarded himself as a great filial piety, seems to be "contrary to filial piety."
In 1741, Chen Shiyi was dismissed from his post because of a mistake in his intentions, and Qianlong publicly rebuked him for being incompetent and incompetent.
Even ordinary courtiers are rarely subjected to such a ruthless number, let alone a biological father?

These people believe that at that time, the fourth son of the emperor, Yin Chan, often accompanied Kangxi to the summer resort, and the Lion Garden outside the summer resort was the fixed residence of the Yin Chan family, so this was the birthplace of Qianlong, and even the Jiaqing Emperor thought so.
