This story first came from the "Tanlu" written by Ding Shu, a Song Dynasty man, which only said that Zhao Kuangyin often drank with his brothers and did not have a cup of wine to release the military power.
During the reign of Emperor Huizong of Song, Li Zhuo wrote the "Long Passage of The Continuation of Zizhi Tongjian", and it began to appear that Zhao Kuangyin asked his brothers to voluntarily surrender their military power, but Li Cook was a very chicken thief, and he marked in his self-annotation: This statement is not recorded in the main history, and everyone believes it or not.
After another few hundred years, in the Qing Dynasty, Bi Yuan's "Continuation of The Governance of The Tongjian", the scene of the release of military power with a cup of wine began to be full, full of fun, and suddenly became a hit, which has been passed down to this day.
Drinking a big meal and giving a lot of money can make the various clan kings (Jiedushi) lay down their power and go home to live in peace, it is estimated that Tang Xuanzong will shed tears when he hears it, and Kangxi will be silent when he hears it.
If it were not for the Anshi rebellion, how could Tang Xuanzong have lost his most beloved woman, Yang Guifei.
If it weren't for the rebellion of the king of the clan, how could Kangxi not have slept peacefully in eight years.
It turned out that it was all because of the lack of a big meal, ah, I already knew, calling An Lushan or Wu Sangui to drink in the dark, and then sharply increasing their retirement benefits, wouldn't it be easy to cut the domain?

The experience of this benevolent brother is recorded in the "Facts of the Song Dynasty", the original author of this book is the Southern Song Dynasty Chengyi Lang Li You, later included in the Ming Dynasty's "Yongle Canon", and later recorded in the "Four Libraries Of The Whole Book", after several rounds of official certification, the victimization is quite reliable.
In the winter of 963, Fu Yanqing entered the court to meet the new emperor Zhao Kuangyin and received warm hospitality.
Zhao Kuangyin invited him to drink a lot of wine is just a basic operation, and sent a bunch of brand-name clothes, jade belts, beautiful women and famous horses, and directly promoted to the third duke, becoming the first emissary, Fu Yanqing went through three dynasties, followed Emperor Guo Wei and Emperor Chai Rong, but he now feels that Zhao Kuangyin is the best big brother.
After giving so much, Emperor Zhao Kuangyin did not want anything, and when he drank, he only made a request that was not a request, that is, to abide by the regulations of the Great Song Dynasty to reduce military service, and the local cadre projects could not be requisitioned for free peasants and civilians, and they had to be completed with soldiers.
This stipulation is aimed at all the envoys of the festival, Fu Yanqing received so many rewards, of course, the first statement: full support for Brother Zhao, there is no second word.

And Zhao Kuangyin's trap began with the casual phrase "soldiers do projects".
Fu Yanqing was still very trustworthy, and after returning to the fiefdom, he was exempted from the people's servitude, and the people who were repairing water conservancy projects were released home, and then the soldiers in the army put down their swords, moved the bricks, and went up.
Soon, Fu Yanqing received another notice from the imperial court that there was now a major project of the state level, and all sections of history had to send troops to aid the construction, first gathering the capital and then being dispatched by the central government. Moreover, detailed recruitment regulations are also noted later, due to the long project period and heavy tasks, as long as the kind of "urban teenagers" and "country teenagers" who are physically strong and have no family.
Fu Yanqing still responded positively, these young single-stick soldiers were originally a factor of instability in the troops, and now that they have gone to the central authorities, they do not have to pay their own salaries, would they have the best of both worlds, and they will come back after the project is completed, and they do not have to worry about the shortage of local troops.
But soon after the recruitment of the imperial court was completed, Fu Yanqing's trouble came.
First of all, there was a letter of criticism from the eldest brother, and Zhao Kuangyin reprimanded him for his poor work and even his own territory. (Arbitrary and lawless, not ruled)
Secondly, a group of experts sent from the central government came down to serve as zhixian and helped him work by hand, and although this group of central officials who came to hang up their posts was only Zhixian, they were all big men, such as Dali Zheng (deputy ministerial level) and Inspector Yushi (specially impeaching the prime minister), all of whom were unaffordable figures. Of course, as the Third Duke, Fu Yanqing was still able to calm down on these big guys, but what made him most unhappy was that there were other relatively low-level "field affairs supervisors" who came with these big men.
These inspectors do nothing but one thing—collect taxes.
To put it bluntly, it is to cut off your financial path.
Some people doubted that the first envoy of the hall, with 100,000 iron horses and elite soldiers in his hands, could not resist?
Fu Yanqing was not a fool, of course he wanted to resist, but when he counted the army, he suddenly woke up from a big dream, and only the old, weak, sick and disabled were left in the army, and those who could fight were all moving bricks on the construction site, even if they were allowed to come back, they were also neglected in training, and the most capable of fighting (single teenagers) went to the distant capital, and now they were being called and cement, and they could not be called back.
As the saying goes, there is power in the barrel of a gun, and now there is no one who even holds a gun, so let's honestly admit it.
Of course, the good drama was not over, and soon Zhao Kuangyin sent Zhou Yu (secretary general of the General Office of the Central Committee) to be the zhixian of Yongji County, Zhou Yu was a hot figure, and when he saw Fu Yanqing, he didn't even get off the horse, just nodded, (slightly unyielding), of course, if Fu Yanqing knew the purpose of this benevolent brother's coming, he wouldn't wonder why he was so cold.
As soon as Zhou Yu took office, he began to retry the case, and within a few days, the execution ground was crowded with heads, all of whom were Fu Yanqing's loyal dog legs.
In 969, someone reported Fu Yanqing for rebellion, and the imperial court demoted him to Fengxiang Jiedushi, but Song Taizu issued an edict, considering that Fu Yanqing was not in good health (Fu Yanqing was ill), don't go to Fengxiang, go directly to Luoyang to retire.
In this way, the first bloodthirsty warlord of the early Song Dynasty lived a harmless captive life of people and animals.
