The IEEE unanimously passed, and the first international standard for machine learning for privacy protection was officially implemented

Recently, the IEEE Standards Committee officially released and implemented an international standard for machine learning for privacy protection based on trusted execution environments (IEEE Std 2830). It is also the first international standard in the world to protect the machine learning technology framework and requirements for privacy protection based on the trusted execution environment. Ant Group and a total of well-known universities and research institutions inside and outside the United Nations jointly set up projects, prepare and formulate. The establishment of this standard provides a landable technical standard solution for protecting data privacy and releasing data value by standardizing the technical standards for privacy computing.

Ant Group, as the chairman unit of the standard working group, officially approved the standard in 2019, and jointly joined hands with the China Electronics Technology Standardization Institute, Peking University, Zhejiang University, Zhijiang Laboratory and other units to complete the preparation of the standard for 2 years. In June 2021, it was reviewed by the IEEE Standards Committee and unanimously approved by the IEEE Standards Committee, and officially released and implemented in November.

(Peng Jin, deputy general manager of the technology strategy development department of Ant Group, was invited to share the implementation of the standard at the 12th China Internet Industry Annual Conference)

Based on the summary of the application practice of ant group and other companies in privacy computing, the standard gives a typical privacy computing technology architecture based on the trusted execution environment, clarifies the requirements of the overall technical architecture of privacy computing, and standardizes the definition, technical architecture, technical process, technical characteristics, and security requirements of privacy computing. The development of this standard can be used to guide the avoidance of risks in the privacy computing technology system, and to promote multiple data providers to achieve data aggregation and computation based on data collaboration and authorized sharing under the requirements of data security, privacy protection and regulatory compliance, so as to release the value of data on the basis of protecting and protecting data privacy.

At the annual meeting of China's Internet industry held today, Ant Group, together with Zhijiang Laboratory, Yuncong Technology and Insight Technology and other standards team members, participated in the standard promotion activities. Peng Jin, deputy general manager of the technology strategy development department of Ant Group, said: "The industry's demand for standardization reflects the maturity of privacy computing technology and products and applications. The formulation and release of standards will help the industry to better reach consensus on the technology stack, application characteristics, capabilities and security of private computing, and promote the interconnection of different privacy computing products to form a better privacy computing ecosystem. ”

The IEEE Standards Association is the world's leading standards-setting body, recognized as a global authority, affiliated with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). IEEE is the world's largest non-profit professional and technical society and one of the world's largest professional and technical associations.

The standard is led by Ant Group and is an affirmation by the IEEE of Ant Group's ability in privacy computing technology. Ant Group has widely used privacy computing in its own business and exported it to the industry to help banks, medical and other institutions use it to protect data security and personal privacy. Among them, the application case of SPDB was selected as the only case in the 2021 IDC report "Balanced Approach to Privacy Computing in Open Financial Data Sharing".

At present, privacy computing technology is still in the early stage of the development of the field and industry, and Ant Group hopes to promote the co-construction of an ecosystem by relevant manufacturers at home and abroad through standards, and promote the overall technical specifications of private computing.
