"Almighty King" Uchimura Hangping curtain the two cycles of all-around 8 consecutive championships unmatched

On January 11, Japanese gymnast Uchima Yukihei officially announced his retirement. The 33-year-old Hasei Uchimura has won the men's all-around championship at the Gymnastics World Championships six times in a row, and won the men's all-around championship at the 2012 London and Rio 2016, and led the Japanese team to the Rio Olympic men's team championship.

In the Japanese domestic trials before the 2008 Beijing Olympics, 19-year-old Uchmura Hanghei attracted attention for his victory over famous Yoshiyuki Tomita. At the Beijing Olympics, when Uchimura and his teammates won the silver medal in the men's team and another silver medal in the men's all-around competition, his potential was already obvious to all.

After the Beijing Olympics, Uchimura Kaihei began the "domination mode". In the London and Rio cycles, in the six Gymnastics World Championships from 2009 to 2015, Uchom Hanghei won the men's all-around championships, and at the London and Rio Olympic Games, Uchimura also topped the men's all-around event. In addition to the men's all-around event, Uchomon has won the World Championships in free gymnastics, parallel bars and horizontal bars.

After winning two gold medals at the 2016 Rio Olympics, Uchimura has been plagued by injuries. Throughout the Tokyo Olympic cycle, Uchida has suffered foot injuries, shoulder injuries and waist injuries, and he also missed the 2017 and 2019 World Championships due to injury, but Uchida is still determined to participate in the Tokyo Olympic Games. In June 2020, Uchimura changed his preparation plan, transformed into a horizontal bar specialist, and regained the difficulty of Group H, Brett Schneider (720 degrees kovac plus turn), and successfully qualified for the Tokyo Olympics representing Japan. However, during the qualifying round for the Tokyo Olympics, Uchimura dropped his equipment in the second half of the horizontal bar event and missed the final, and his fourth Olympic trip ended in regret.

Uchima's last appearance was at the Kitakyushu Gymnastics World Championships last October, when he finished 6th on horizontal bars. Kitakyushu is also the hometown of Uchimura Hanghei, and being able to participate in the competition in front of the hometown audience also made Uchimura Hanghei feel a lot. "I can feel the enthusiasm of the audience as if they have been waiting for me for a long, long time, and it's really an incomparable feeling." This appearance at the Kitakyushu World Championships also became the curtain call for Uchimura's gymnastics career.

From the Beijing Olympic cycle to the Tokyo Olympic cycle, Uchimura won 7 Olympic medals (3 gold medals), 21 World Championship medals (10 gold medals), and set a record of six consecutive men's all-around World Championships. The official website of the International Olympic Committee also praised Hanghei Uchimura as "the best male gymnast in history".
