Shazam, apple's song-hunting artifact, now has a Chrome browser extension

Apple acquired Shazam in 2017, but even before that, Shazam was already built into Apple devices at the operating system level. On an iPhone or Mac, users can ask Siri to recognize any songs that are playing without the Shazam app.

Shazam is now also available through the Chrome browser extension on PCs and Macs, which, once installed, can be accessed next to the address bar and opens a Shazam interface to listen to what's playing. When the extension recognizes a song, it opens an option to play in Apple Music (subscribers can log in to get the full song).

IT House understands that the Shazam extension provides access to the history of Shazam songs, as well as lyrics, music videos, and more for Apple Music users.

In addition to the Shazam website, Apple did not advertise the Shazam extension, 9to5Google speculated that this may be because of the problem with the extension, because some users reported that the Shazam extension does not seem to work at all, specifically as not recognizing any songs, but some other users say that they can recognize songs normally.
