In November 1948, Lin Biao, commander of the Northeast Field Army, in accordance with the instructions of the Central Military Commission to unify the numbers and sequences of the whole army, the former 1st Column to the 12th Column of the East Field was successively used by the 38th Army to the 49th Army.

Among them, the columns of the 3 corps involving the 14th Corps were mainly the 2nd Column (39th Army), the 4th Column (41st Army), and the 5th Column (42nd Army). At that time, the first commanders of the various armies were, respectively

In March 1949, the Northeast Field Army was renamed the Fourth Field Army. At that time, the former 1st and 2nd Corps of Higashino had been renamed the 12th and 13th Corps in December 1948, but the leadership groups required for the upcoming four major corps had not yet been equipped.
In April of the same year, Commander Lin Biao of The Four Fields formed the 14th Corps Headquarters on the basis of the Training Headquarters of the Northeast Military Region. In May, the 14th Corps was officially organized, and the sequence of battles was shown in the following figure:

After the 14th Corps was formed, it participated in the battles of Anxin, Western Henan, and Southeast Henan to suppress bandits and Yisha. In August, the Central Military Commission decided to prepare for the establishment of the Air Force, and this historical responsibility fell on the shoulders of Shino. Against this background, Chairman Mao pointed out that Liu Yalou, who was "airsick," was responsible for forming the People's Air Force.
At the same time, the 14th Corps was abolished, and the Corps Headquarters was merged with the Aviation Bureau of the Central Military Commission to form the Air Force Command. In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 41st Army remained in the Central and Southern Military Region (later renamed the Guangzhou Military Region) to participate in the battle against bandits, and the 39th and 42nd Armies joined hands with fraternal units as the first combat units to enter the DPRK and fought the first campaign to resist the United States and aid Korea. On the Korean battlefield, the 39th and 42nd Armies performed well, and they all had the strong strength to compete with the 38th Army for the reputation of "Long Live the Army".
Before and after the Korean Armistice, the 39th Army was reorganized into the Northeast Military Region (later renamed the Shenyang Military Region), and the 42nd Army was also reassigned to the Central and Southern Military Region. In the following decades, the bloodline of the original Shiye 14th Corps can be described as one heaven and two earth south. Until the million disarmament in June 1985, the 39th, 41st, and 42nd Armies ushered in a turning point in military history.

39th Army
In September 1982, the 38th and 39th Armies took the lead in carrying out the pilot work of the group army in the whole army. In 1984, the 39th Army was officially renamed the 39th Group Army, and the 115th, 116th, and 117th Infantry Divisions under its jurisdiction were reorganized into mechanized infantry divisions, and were incorporated into the 3rd Tan Division, the Artillery Brigade (formerly the 7th Artillery Division), and the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade. After the 39th Group Army was formed, it sent a reconnaissance brigade to participate in the Battle of the Two Mountains.

In the pilot work of the 39th Army Group Army, Xu Huizi, the former commander of the 39th Army, made great contributions, and was later promoted to general in 1994, and before retiring, he was the president of the Academy of Military Sciences. In March 1988, the 39th Army became the second group army to form a helicopter group after the 38th Army. In April 2017, the 39th Army was abolished and merged with fraternal units to form the 79th Army, which was subordinate to the Northern Theater Army.
41st Army
Needless to say, the famous "Tashan Hero Regiment" of the 41st Army is in this army, and General Zhang Wannian is also a generation of famous generals who came out of the 41st Army. Although the 41st Army did not participate in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, it performed well in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam. Since 170:00 on February 1979, the 41st Army has killed 5,581 enemy, wounded 1,118, and captured 333 in just 28 days, for a total of 7,032 enemy casualties. This record ranked third among the 9 armies participating in the battle.

In 1985, the 41st Army was reorganized into the 41st Group Army, under the jurisdiction of the 121st, 123rd and 164th (formerly the 55th Army), and was organized into the Tank Brigade, artillery brigade, and anti-aircraft artillery brigade. The 41st Group Army has a long military history, can recruit good battles, and is well-equipped, and has become a banner of the Guangzhou Military Region. In April 2017, the 41st Army was abolished and merged with its fraternal forces to form the 74th Army, which was subordinate to the Southern Theater Army.
42nd Army
In 1985, before the million-dollar disarmament, the Central Military Commission originally planned to retain the 55th Army and abolish the 42nd Army, but after the proposal of You Taizhong, then commander of the Guangzhou Military Region, the 42nd Army was retained and survived this pass. The 42nd Army can be preserved, one has a long military history, and the other is that the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea is indeed able to fight, and it has degenerated from a second-rate unit into a main force.

Based on this, the 42nd Army was reorganized into the 42nd Group Army, the original 125th Division was abolished, and the 163rd Division of the 55th Army was incorporated into the army, and was incorporated into the 1st Artillery Division, the Tank Brigade, and the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Brigade. In 1994, the Hong Kong Garrison was established, and Liu Zhenwu, then commander of the 42nd Group Army, won the honor of the first commander of the Hong Kong Garrison.
