Wu Nanyu (1894-1942) was a native of Xiannu Town.
When it comes to Wu Nanyu, we all know that he has learned to paint golden stones since he was a child, achieved extraordinary achievements, and eventually became a miniature carver, and his works such as "The Twelve Nobles of the Red Chamber", "Peach Blossom Origin", "Eight Immortals Heshou" and other works are well-known throughout the country and even the world, and people call him "Daya Article Shou Seal Stone, Cloth Famous Artist Moving Gongqing".
In fact, while devoting himself to the creation of micro-sculpture art, he also devoted himself to philatelic collection and was an outstanding philatelist in the early Republic of China.
In the mid-1930s, Wu Nanyu and his father Wu Zhongrong traveled to Beijing, and when he opened the Miaoxiang Art Club at No. 62, XidanrongXian Hutong, Beiping, he became acquainted with Mr. Zhao Shanchang, a famous philatelist at that time, vice president of the Jiashu Stamp Association, and the two soon became close friends. Driven by Zhao, Wu Nanyu also developed a strong interest in philately and began to dabble in philatelic collection.
At that time, there were three major philatelic organizations in China: the China Philatelic Society, the Shin Kong Philatelic Society, and the Jiashu Stamp Society. The Jiashu Stamp Society was established in Zhengzhou in May 1934. After Wu Nanyu began to collect stamps, his enthusiasm was very high. He paid attention to the collection of a large number of precious stamps from the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, such as: sample stamps, variant tickets, actual envelopes, first flight covers, etc., and has collected more than 500 precious philatelic products. On the recommendation of Zhao Shanchang, Wu Nanyu became the head of the Beiping Communications Office of the Jiashu Stamp Association.
From June 5 to 7, 1937, the First Stamp Exhibition was held in Kaifeng, exhibiting a total of 68 boxes of collections by 14 members. Wu Nanyu, as the representative of Beiping, exhibited 100 of his own collections. Among them, the red stamp is stamped with one point and twenty squares, six variation tickets, song character inverted stamp tickets, clear tickets without watermarks, long head and long tail missing teeth tickets, Guangfu memorial test printing tickets, Jingfenghang sample tickets, are extremely precious and rare, won the second prize. Another eye-catching is Li Xiangjun and Yan Dongkui's two special collections of stamps from the Soviet region during the Period of China's Agrarian Revolution, including the red stamps of Xianggan Border Province, the red stamps of Southwest Jiangxi and the Soviet Republic, as well as fifteen actual seals, which are the first public exhibition, causing a sensation and winning the fourth prize.
In order to commemorate the success of this stamp exhibition, on July 1, 1937, the 4th volume and 7th issue of the "Jia Shu Postal Works" were also published. Wu Nanyu's "Diary of a Journey" was published in this issue, which recorded his process of meeting as a member of the post and the grandeur of the stamp exhibition. During this period, he also presented a stamp engraved by him to each post-visitor.
Unfortunately, not much, seven. The Qilugou Bridge Incident, the Japanese Kou Iron Hoof soon stepped into the city of Beijing, and his years of collection were destroyed. Sadly, he left Beijing on August 12 of that year and returned to his hometown fairy temple. Soon, the Fairy Temple fell, his family's house was looted again, and his life's work was gone! Wu Nanyu eventually suffered from exhaustion and died of depression shortly after.
