Yuwen Hu killed Emperor Xiaomin shortly after his abdication, and then went to Qi Prefecture to welcome Yuwen Yu as emperor, and after Yuwen Yu ascended the throne, he appointed Yuwen Hu as the emperor's eunuch and tilted his power to the opposition. However, Yuwen Yu was a bold and resourceful emperor, and under his rule, Yuwen Yu was subject to restraint at every turn. Therefore, Yuwen Yu secretly poisoned Yuwen Yu's food, and soon after, Yuwen Yu died of illness. In 560, Yuwen Hu re-established Yuwen Tai's fourth son, Yuwen Yong, as emperor, and Yuwen Yongcheng was extremely deep, and in order not to be suspected by Yuwen Hu, he was willing to be a puppet emperor on the surface.
In 572, Yuwen Yong decided to get rid of Yuwen Hu, a poisoning tumor of the dynasty.
