There were many emperors in the feudal period, and there were many personalities among the emperors of the Ming Dynasty, and one of the emperors had very different evaluations, some people called him the most intelligent emperor of the Ming Dynasty, and some people called him a emperor. The emperor was almost strangled to death by the palace maid, and has been fighting against the civil officials, reigning for 45 years and degenerating for 45 years.

Fight against civilian officials
Emperor Mingxiaozong was a Ming Emperor who had only one empress in his harem and no concubines. Later generations were very envious of their husband and wife's feelings, but this also led to a problem, the empress only gave birth to two sons for him, and when he grew up, he became Emperor Mingwuzong.
But the emperor reigned very short, dying of illness at the age of 31 and without any heirs, and on his deathbed he mentioned that one of his cousins was Jiajing. However, because Emperor Mingwuzong's time from illness to death was very short, there was no adequate preparation.
Originally, he did not expect to die of an illness, so he did not inherit, only left an edict on his deathbed, saying that he would pass on his throne to his cousin. But it did not elaborate on what status the cousin would use to inherit the throne.
The ministers believed that since Jiajing had succeeded to the throne, he should be the adopted son of Emperor Mingxiaozong, the brother of Emperor Mingwuzong, and the heir son of the empress dowager in the palace. However, Jiajing did not think so, and when he was approached by his courtiers to the capital, he began to exert his own ideas and did not want to be the son of Ming Xiaozong.
Even after entering the palace, he wanted to enshrine his own father as emperor taishang and his own mother as empress, and his decision also aroused the opposition of the ministers of the DPRK. The courtiers wrote to the emperor to express their dissatisfaction. However, Jiajing did not back down, directly indicating that if he did not agree with himself, he would not inherit the throne.
The Chinese officials and the emperor did not give in to each other, and the awareness of the situation was very stiff, but the country could not be without a monarch for a day, Jiajing still became the emperor, but after that, he still wanted to crown his father as the Emperor Taishang, and also took his mother to the capital, and the Chinese officials even proposed to return to their hometowns to persecute the emperor, but it was useless.
For three years, Jiajing honored his biological father as emperor. On this day, the civil officials gathered at the gate of the palace and knelt down to beg the emperor to take back his life. However, the emperor ignored it, used thunderous means, and directly ordered the Arrest of these civilian officials by Jinyiwei, because hundreds of people were demoted to prison because of this incident. In the end, the civil official still lost to Jiajing.
The palace maid assassinated the emperor
After this incident, Jiajing's power position in the Ming Dynasty court was improved, the power of the civilian official clique declined significantly, and he also made a series of reforms after he ascended to the throne, which promoted the development of the country's political situation and strengthened the power in his hands. However, in the later period, he began to indulge in monasticism, advocating Taoism, and even gave himself a Taoist name.
Began to refine various dan medicines in the harem, and more and more dan medicines were taken, and the courtiers of the DPRK and The courtiers repeatedly persuaded them, but they still did not change. Later, there was also an assassination of the emperor by a palace maid, which is not recorded in much detail in the history books.
According to Ye Shi, it may be that when Jiajing was refining dan medicine, he needed to use a large amount of women's menstrual blood and destroyed a lot of palace women, which made these palace women unbearable. So in October 1542, several palace ladies united and secretly ran to the palace where Jiajing was resting.
Pressed his chest, legs and feet separately, and then took out a rope to strangle him. Because most of the assassins were palace women serving around him, the incident happened too suddenly, and no guards realized it at all, but these palace women were too nervous, and when they strangled the emperor, they actually tied the rope into a dead knot.
Later, they prepared to kill the emperor with the golden hairpin on their heads. The empress heard the sudden arrival of the movement, only to subdue all the palace women, at this time Jiajing was already in shock, the doctor hurriedly concocted a pair of drugs to feed, and it was not long before the emperor vomited several mouthfuls of blood, and then gradually eased up.
Jia Jing was able to speak, and took several doses of decoction medicine to heal. He lived another 24 years.
Forty-five years of depravity
During Jiajing's reign, he paid great attention to enjoyment, although he began to cultivate in the harem, but it did not affect him to recruit beautiful women, and the number of concubines in his harem was large, and according to records, the total number of concubines has reached more than 200. During his reign, he often built a large number of civil engineering projects, and successively built more than 20 palaces, spending countless sums of money.
Later generations commented that he was addicted to alchemy and cultivation, fainted and decayed, and worked in the world for 45 years, but he did not accomplish anything. After he was assassinated by the palace maid, he thought that the reason why he was able to escape the ascension to heaven was because of the blessing of the Heavenly Dao King, so he became more obsessed with cultivation in the following time.
Jiajing completely forgot the identity of the emperor and handed over power to the cabinet ministers and eunuch eunuchs in the court.
epilogue
Jiajing is a very intelligent person, but he put all his wisdom on himself, very selfish. The purpose of opposing the civil officials was to make their parents the Emperor and Empress Dowager, the purpose of indulging in monasticism was to prolong their lifespan, and the purpose of building a large number of civil engineering was to improve their living environment.
But the only thing that didn't think of it was the people under them. Reigned for 45 years and fell for 45 years.
