On March 18, 1942, a group of Japanese puppet troops appeared ghostly in Song Village, Yancheng. They broke into a farmhouse, dragged an old man out of the bed, tied him up and arrested him. In the face of the fierce enemy, the old man held his head high and was not afraid.

In the interrogation room, in the face of the enemy's torture, the old man's iron bones and eyes were like torches. The enemy repeatedly asked him questions such as "where is the New Fourth Army?", and he either remained silent and did not say a word, or he raised an eyebrow coldly. Hard no, the enemy began to lure again. The captain of the Japanese military police personally loosened the binding, brought him fruit, brewed tea leaves, and asked him to "be the governor of Yancheng County."

However, the old man's answer was only two words:

Don't!

This respectable old man is Song Zefu, who is widely known among the military and civilians in northern Jiangsu.

Song Zefu was born in the late Qing Dynasty, lost both parents at an early age, and was raised by his uncle. At the age of 23, he went to Huai'an to participate in the examination and ranked first in the list. Deeply influenced by Kang Liang's restoration, he witnessed the corruption and incompetence of the Qing court, and resolutely entered the Nanjing Ningzhi Normal School to engage in education in order to serve the country through education.

In 1924, Song Zefu founded Tinghu Middle School in his hometown of Songcun and served as chairman of the board. His son, Song Izhen, a graduate of the Literature Department of Peking University, is the president. With the cooperation of father and son, Tinghu Middle School has gradually become the leader of local schools in Yancheng. In the same year, Sun Yat-sen put forward the "three major policies", and Song Zefu placed great expectations on it.

In 1931, the September 18 Incident broke out; in 1933, the Japanese army invaded and occupied Shanhaiguan. Faced with the desperate situation of the fall of the land and the shattering of mountains and rivers, Chiang Kai-shek still had to "settle down" first. Song Zefu deeply resented this and published articles many times, attacking and mocking Chiang's "fake anti-Japanese resistance." Among them, the article "Smart Fall of the Country" can be said to be the most representative,

Only listen to the sound of the floor slabs, do not see people go downstairs. How clever that is!

”“

First inside, then outside, this kind of era of national salvation strategy, how clever

!

The old man cried out in sorrow in the article:

If China does not die, it will die, and if it dies, it will die in the wise.

These throwing dagger-like articles were highly praised by Chen Yi, who praised him

Portrait of Mr. Song Zefu

After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, Song Zefu served as the president of the Yancheng Anti-Japanese League and presided over the local anti-Japanese affairs. After northern Jiangsu fell into the hands of the enemy, he still insisted on carrying out education behind the enemy lines, and Tinghu Middle School cultivated a group of talents in the War of Resistance. After the New Fourth Army arrived in the Yanfu area, there was no mass base. He stepped forward and took the initiative to greet him. Not only that, Song Zefu also met with Chen Yi, who had been friends with God for a long time, and saw it as usual. With his help, the construction of the anti-Japanese base areas was in full swing.

In 1941, the Japanese army launched a large-scale "sweep", launched a "clearance and suppression" in the Yancheng area, and promoted "pseudo-corruption".

Faced with danger, Song Zefu returned to Qin Nancang, the enemy stronghold

Lidi's hometown, Song Village, became the township chief.

He often traveled around in small boats, cooperating with the local "iron-blooded hoe gang" and guerrillas, dealing a heavy blow to the Japanese and pseudo-Japanese. The enemy's burning and looting did not deter the old man. According to his son's recollection, there was a note on Song Zefu's desk, which was a "book of desperation":

I was taken captive, not ransomed; I was killed, and I did not collect the body.

The words fully demonstrate the noble integrity of the old man.

In the face of the soft and hard treatment of the Japanese and the pseudo, the old man did not shrink back half a step. The enemy brought him food, and he threw it all away. For three days in a row, the spoon was not taken. On April 8, more than 100 heavily armed Japanese troops escorted him to the headquarters in Taizhou. At that time, The commander of the security forces, Nanpu Xiangji pretended to change his face, complimenting him on the one hand, and luring him to work for the "East Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere" with the advantages of high-ranking officials. When Song Zefu heard this, he shot up and angrily refused. In desperation, the Japanese took him back to Yancheng and locked him up in the Liangyue Street Anmin Association, continuing to coerce and induce.

In the face of the money sent by the enemy, Song Zefu was dismissive; the letter of appointment of the "senior adviser of the Northern Jiangsu Camp" sent by him was also torn apart by the old man. In his notes, he wrote these words:

The country is easy to change, and the nature is difficult to move. My will will never be shaken, and my perseverance will never be lost!

Under the rescue of many parties, Song Zefu finally broke away from the tiger's mouth and returned to the base area.

After his release from prison, the old man still insisted on engaging in anti-Japanese work. Ignoring his wounds, he wrote "The Record of being Captured" and rearranged the old long poem "Nerd Yin", denouncing the traitorous behavior of japanese hypocrisy and traitors. However, due to the recurrence of the injury, Song Zefu fell. At the end of his life, he slammed the wall around him and kept shouting:

Resist Japan, kill traitors!

At 4 p.m. on December 10, 1942, Song Zefu died with hatred at the age of 70. In order to commemorate him, Yancheng Middle School was renamed "Zefu Middle School" and specially built the Song Zefu Memorial Pavilion to commemorate this unyielding hero.
