In the long history, starting from the Xia Dynasty in the 21st century BC, various dynasties have brought a strong mark on this stage, leaving behind their unique culture and those beautiful stories.
In our understanding of history, the order of dynasties such as "Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing" has formed a kind of common sense. But in fact, between the Tang and Song dynasties, there was still a period of "five dynasties and ten kingdoms", and between the Song and Yuan dynasties, there was the Liao Dynasty, the Western Xia and the Jin Dynasty. Although they are not recognized as a dynasty in history, they have truly existed.
At the same time, what many people do not know is that between the Song Dynasty and the Yuan Dynasty, there was also this dynasty that quietly rose. And in the subsequent twists and turns, they have been passed down for nearly a thousand years and have their own unique culture and royal system. Their country name is little known, experts say it is true, and their alternative name is very familiar to us.
In the southwest of China, in 937 AD, Duan Siping ended a regime called the State of Dayining and established the State of Dali here. This change forced the ancestors of the Dai people, who formed the State of Dayining at that time, to migrate to the Yinsheng area and live a life of displacement.
The State of Dali did not hesitate to recruit these Dai people and asked their nobles to assist in the governance of the country. However, this situation did not last long, and in the 11th century, the Dali state fell into a very serious civil strife, and took this opportunity to break away from the Dai ancestors who had gathered together to continue the royal rule.
In 1180, under the leadership of the chief Pa Yazhen, the Dai people established their own new kingdom "Mengli" along the middle mekong river. In order to consolidate their position in the southwest, Paya Zhen chose to become a vassal state of the Song Dynasty and pay tribute every year, which also gave them the opportunity to develop the overpowering Dali State.
Taking this opportunity, the Mengli State began to vigorously develop, using the powerful national strength it had built together to conquer the West and war, and once became the largest country in Southeast Asia. According to the "History of The Dragon", the Mengli State at that time had a population of more than eight million, and its combat strength was strong and had characteristic war elephants to help the army, which could be described as invincible.
It was not until 1281 that the vassal states of Mengli broke the status quo of peaceful development and captured the vassal states of the Yuan Dynasty at that time. This immediately aroused the anger of the Yuan Dynasty, and in 1284 the army rushed to the southwest for a crusade. After this conquest, Mengli's originally strong national strength was directly damaged to the foundation, and it has since declined. So that when it was subsequently conquered by the Ming Dynasty, the Qing Dynasty and even the Burmese Donggu Dynasty, they did not hesitate to choose to submit and could not be closed in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.
It is thanks to this that the Dai dynasty left behind by the Mengli lineage has been continued. It was not until 1928 that the 41st and final generation of King Mengli was born, and his name was Dao Shixun. However, in his life, he has long been filled with advanced cultural ideas, and his concepts have long been changed. And when the Japanese invaders provoked the war, he also actively participated in the defense of the homeland, which lasted for nearly a thousand years of the Dai Dynasty.
However, for Mengli, in the history books, they are more regarded as a kind of vassal state,000, and even many people do not recognize it. But in any case, in history, the Dai dynasty did have a glorious history, and today all countries in Southeast Asia must remember the style of the former Mengli.
