During the Yuan Dynasty, the rulers of our country were Mongols, who conquered the Central Plains and brought the culture of the steppe peoples to the central plains. For example, during the Yuan Dynasty, the costumes, hairstyles, living habits, etc. of the Central Plains people all had the shadow of ethnic minorities, and at the same time, the cultural ideas of the Han nationality were also affected by them.
After the Yuan Dynasty, Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty, after which he found that under the influence of ethnic minorities, the costumes of the Han people were no longer pure. In this regard, as the Emperor of the Central Plains, he had the obligation to let people's clothes and costumes return to the style of the Han and Tang Dynasties. In fact, before the Yuan Dynasty, the clothing division of the Han people was very strict, from the emperor to the officials and courtiers, from top to bottom, their costumes had their own special designs. Then, when Zhu Yuanzhang designed the costumes of Ming Dynasty officials, he adopted this method of distinguishing ranks according to color patterns. Zhu Yuanzhang stipulated: The pattern on the civilian official uniforms is to use birds, according to the nine-pin system, from the crane to the ninth product of the bird. However, the clothing of ordinary people was not allowed to have these patterns, and the birds and beasts belonged exclusively to the imperial court officials. Therefore, if there are birds and beasts on the clothes, it is the official. In the last years of the Ming Dynasty, officials did not fulfill their responsibilities and squeezed and exploited the people, which led to increasingly fierce class contradictions, making the people unhappy and unable to speak bitterly. Therefore, at that time, the people saw these officials in official uniforms and cursed them behind their backs with the word "beast in the crown". Gradually, the word took on a new meaning, what is now called a cloaked beast.
