The Panlong city workstation of Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology was listed

(Reporter Hai Bing, correspondent Song Ruohong, Bai Xue) On January 7, the opening ceremony of the Panlong City Workstation of the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology was held at the Panlong City Ruins Museum. The Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology was established with the research and consent of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, and was officially inaugurated at the opening ceremony of the new Museum of Hubei Provincial Museum on December 20, 2021. This workstation is the first workstation established after the establishment of the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, and is another measure to further promote the development of cultural relics and archaeology in our province.

According to reports, the Panlong City site was first discovered by archaeologist Lan Wei in 1954, since the 1960s, the Hubei Provincial Museum Cultural Relics Archaeological Team, the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology (the predecessor of the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology), Peking University, Wuhan University and other universities have carried out many archaeological excavations at the Panlong City site.

Wan Lin, president of the Panlong City Ruins Museum, said that she will take the listing of the Panlong City Workstation of the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology as an opportunity to work with the Hubei Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology to integrate the superior resources of both sides, further explore the connotation of the Panlong City ruins and the value and status in the Yangtze River civilization, and strive to take responsibility and make a difference in the construction of the Yangtze River National Cultural Park.
