The Japanese still do not understand why the Americans attacked lower Iwo Jima but could not win the battle against Ganling

In the Pacific Theater, the Americans captured Iwo Jima, and the Japanese death rate reached 95%! However, in the Battle of Shangganling, the US army fired a large number of shells, but it was never able to repel the Chinese army of "millet plus rifle". The Japanese still can't understand why the Americans can defeat Iwo Jima but can't take Shangganling.

On the first day of the Battle of Shangganling, our army consumed 400,000 rounds of ammunition, more than 10,000 grenades, and destroyed 10 turntable machine guns, 62 submachine guns and 90 rifles. The U.S. military fired 1.9 million shells, which shows the intensity of the battle.

Such a dense attack made the transportation of supplies a top priority, and our army relied on creeping transportation and relay transportation to send food, water and weapons into the tunnels of the soldiers.

In contrast, the Battle of Iwo Jima in Japan not only surrounded the US army regiments, the soldiers almost starved to death, but also let the US military use bulldozers to shovel mud to fill in the tunnels of the cover soldiers, and a large number of Japanese troops were suffocated inside.

In the Battle of Shangganling, our army had a 35-meter-thick anti-slope tunnel, which not only effectively preserved the living strength of the volunteer army, but also gave us more opportunities to kill and deplete the enemy. The large-caliber artillery shells that the United States is proud of have not played the slightest role.

The South Korean army was so angry that it sent people to destroy our tunnels. However, the 4 mountain guns of our army, relying on geographical advantages, slammed into the enemy, causing the enemy to completely abandon the idea of destroying the tunnel.

In this battle, the Volunteer Army also invested the largest artillery force in history. Among them, the 24 Katyusha rockets assigned to the volunteer army by deputy commander Hong Xuezhi exerted great power and almost lost the combat effectiveness of the South Korean army.

The number of casualties of our artillery accounted for more than 70 percent of the total number of enemy annihilators in Shangganling.

Not only that, whenever night fell, three or four volunteer soldiers formed a group and launched a night attack on the US army in many directions with grenades, with a success rate of 94.3%.

In the tenacious fighting of the volunteer soldiers, the US army suffered heavy losses and lost the confidence to continue fighting.

In the end, at the cost of 15,600 casualties, our army won the final victory in the Battle of Shangganling at the cost of 15,600 soldiers, in exchange for the excellent result of killing 25,498 UN troops.

In this campaign, the US army was completely defeated and lost face. In order to win, our volunteer soldiers fearlessly built walls for the motherland with their flesh and blood, defended their homeland, and won peace. They are our eternal heroes.
