Danjiangkou Rocky Beach Ruins
The ruins of Chaoshitan are located on the north bank of the Han River 7.5 kilometers east of Danjiangkou City, with an area of 600 square meters. Excavations began in 1958 and found that the main remains were tombs and ash pits, and the excavated relics were mainly pottery, stone tools and bone tools. The remains include the late Yangshao culture and the late Shijiahe culture, the latter of which is the majority.
Underwater archaeological survey of Danjiangkou reservoir area
From 2013 to 2017, the Underwater Cultural Heritage Protection Center of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage and the Hubei Provincial Underwater Cultural Heritage Protection Center (Wuhan Base for The Protection of Underwater Cultural Heritage) established a joint underwater archaeology task force to organize and implement the underwater archaeological survey of the Danjiangkou Reservoir with the ancient city of Junzhou as the focus, and achieved fruitful results in underwater archaeological survey.
