At that time, the economic and ideological impact of the Western powers on China's bottom society was inspired by the wisdom of the people at the bottom, and the most powerful uprising in history was launched.
The Taiping Heavenly Kingdom went through a total of 14 years, and the last movement ended in failure under the suppression of the Qing government and the powerful external forces in the West, and many of the rebel movements in the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom were generals who were born of peasant origin but had excellent skills in leading troops to fight, and Lin Fengxiang was one of them. After the Taiping Army set the capital of Tianjing, Lin Fengxiang and Li Kaifang led 20,000 elite Northern Expeditions, and Yang Xiuqing, who commanded this operation, originally intended to take advantage of this Northern Expedition, indicating that the Heavenly Dynasty and the Qing Court were two forms that could not be tolerated by water and fire, and would never surrender, even if the 20,000 Northern Expedition troops failed, they would not shake the foundation of the Heavenly Dynasty, but unexpectedly, Lin Fengxiang led this Northern Expedition army all the way to Tianjin, and it was also within easy reach of Beijing.
Although the Qing soldiers along the way could not resist, but when approaching Beijing, the famous general of the Qing government, Sang Greenqin, led his troops to battle, surrounded and attacked on all sides, and launched an attack on the town where Lin Fengxiang was located, and the troops of less than 10,000 people were hungry and cold, and the resistance of the red and white knives lasted for 280 days, which was also a major miracle in the history of war at that time. Until the Northern Expedition army was completely taken by the monk Gelinqin, Lin Fengxiang was gone.
The Qing army captured many Northern Expedition generals, but Lin Fengxiang disappeared for a while. The monk Gelinqin ordered: To be born to see people, to die is to see corpses.
While cleaning up the battlefield, two soldiers of the Qing army found a stone slab under a piece of rubble, opened it, and looked at it, and below it was a huge hole in the ground, Lin Fengxiang and dozens of accompanying soldiers all hid inside, and at this point, the Northern Expeditionary Army was completely destroyed and Lin Fengxiang was captured. Although the Northern Expeditionary Army was destroyed, for the Qing court, it could not be happy. Because this is the biggest existential crisis faced since the Great Qing Dynasty entered the capital of Beijing.
It can be said that the Xianfeng Emperor already hated Hong Xiuquan, Yang Xiuqing and others to the bone, and wanted to eat their flesh and sleep on their skins. Now that Lin Fengxiang, the commander of the Northern Expeditionary Army, was captured, it was natural to severely punish him, let the people of the world see the price of rebellion, and also tell the resolute position of the Hong and Yang imperial courts. To this end, XianFeng ordered that there was no need to submit the crime to the ministry, and he was directly escorted to Caishikou Lingchi for execution.
On March 14, Lin Fengxiang and his men were escorted to Beijing, and on the same day, Prince Mianyu of Hui, together with the patrol officers, questioned Lin Fengxiang, who was strong and unyielding, fearless in the face of death, and vowed to be loyal to the king. The next day, Lin Fengxiang was executed by Ling Chi at the Caishikou Execution Ground. There were many people who were executed by Ling Chi, the general of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, but whether it was Lin Fengxiang or Shi Dakai later, they all showed a righteous and awe-inspiring attitude, and it is still unclear what exactly made them have such strength.
We only know that in the Qing Dynasty Li Huan's "Baowei Zhai Class Manuscript • Dream Traces", the scene of Lin Fengxiang's being lingchi was recorded in detail, and the execution tools, techniques and Performance of Lin Fengxiang were described in detail in the book, as if it was seen with his own eyes. Because the text is obscure, the original text is not listed. The gist is that when Lin Fengxiang was tortured, he stood tall and fearless, "wherever the knife is reached, the eyes look straight at it, and there is no sound in the end."
How many knives Lin Fengxiang had been stabbed in the end, this was not detailed, but it was certain that the number would never be less, otherwise even the flesh around the teeth would not have been cut off. After the execution, Lin Fengxiang's teeth were collected as "booty" in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and treasured in a box, and they did not reappear until 45 years later.
