Later, it experienced the rise and fall of countless dynasties, and there were countless dynasties in history, after all, it was common for kings to lose, and it was common for new rulers to change dynasties, and after the new ruler ascended the throne, the first thing to do was to establish his own orthodox ruling position, the most important of which was to change the name of the country.
The name of the country, which is what we know as the name of the dynasty, so on what basis do these rulers decide the name of their dynasty?
According to a detailed study of historical sources, there are about five sources for general dynastic names, and in the first primitive societies, the name of the country evolved from the tribal name, and later from the change of clan relations.
There are also from the original titles of the founders, or their most primitive political rule area, which is the most common, after all, the establishment of many new dynasties, not because of the natural decline of the previous dynasty, but when the dynasty was overthrown by force, so they often have their own fiefs or vassal states, in the process of long years of conquest, these names are naturally deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, so after the establishment of the new dynasty, it is natural to become the new national name.
In addition, there is another source at the end of our dynasty name, that is, it means auspicious and auspicious, blessing the new dynasty can last for ten thousand years, such as the Ming Dynasty established by Zhu Yuanzhang, the word "Ming" means that the darkness has passed and the light is coming. There is also the Houjin established by the Jurchens, and the word "Jin" indicates a stronger and more powerful force that destroys everything.
All in all, no matter which of the above reasons, we will not use the name of the founder of the country for the naming of the dynasty, for example, there is no Li Dynasty, Dynasty, Zhu Dynasty or the like in history, not named after the royal family name, almost becoming a tacit rule of the rulers of all dynasties and generations.
However, in contrast to us, the Vietnamese who live around us have almost a microcosm of Chinese history, and the Vietnamese, whether it is culture or rule, have largely emulated Chinese, but in the name of the dynasty, the Vietnamese usually use the royal name.
So what is the reason for this? Since they are deeply influenced by China, why is there such a huge difference in the national name.
In fact, the reason is that Vietnam's dynastic changes usually do not change the name of the country, and generally follow the name of the country of the previous dynasty. Dynastic changes in China are accompanied by a change in name.
In 968, Ding Bu established the first independent and unified dynasty in Vietnam, the official name of the country was "Da Qu Yue", but because of the ruling royal family name Ding, historically known as "Ding Dynasty", later Li Huan usurped power, but the newly established Li Dynasty did not change the name of the country, but continued to use the name of the previous dynasty, that is, "Da Qu Yue".
The name "Da Qu Yue" was used until 1054 AD, and the three dynastic changes did not change this "stubborn" country name, until the third generation of the Li Dynasty, which was renamed "Da Yue". Changing from "Da Qu Yue" to "Da Yue" is actually no different from not changing, that is, there is less word, and the national name is also with "Yue", and the changed national name "Da Yue" has lasted for a longer period of time.
So why didn't the Vietnamese change the name of the country when they replaced the rulers? There are actually two reasons.
On the one hand, although Vietnamese culture is similar to China, they have not learned the essence after all, Chinese the reason why they changed the national name, in fact, they pay attention to the makeover, a new beginning, and the Vietnamese will not pay attention to so much, so they will be informal on the national name.
The second and most important reason is that in ancient times, Vietnam has always been a vassal state of China, and it is necessary to pay tribute to China for asylum, and the new monarch must be crowned and approved by the Chinese ruler when he ascends the throne, otherwise it is an invalid regime, and it is precisely because of this that vietnamese will not hastily change the name of the country.
The change of Vietnam's national name has caused a lot of controversy. The third generation of monarchs of the Li Dynasty changed "Da Qu Yue" to "Da Yue" in fact to show their arrogant ambitions, because the Li Dynasty has always had attempts to expand abroad, perhaps not strong enough, but still wants to secretly show that he wants to sit on an equal footing with the Chinese emperor.
So has Vietnam always used "Vietnam" as the country name? No, there was a time in history when Vietnam completely changed its name. In 1400, Hu Jiyi usurped the Chen Dynasty, changed "Dayue" to "Dayu", and lied to emperor Yongle of Daming that the former imperial family was dead and that he had succeeded to the throne as a nephew.
But then this lie was denounced by the widows of the former Vietnamese dynasty, the Yongle Emperor was angry and sent troops to Vietnam, 800,000 troops went south, in 1407 completely destroyed Vietnam, Vietnam was included in the Chinese territory, but unfortunately, this annexation lasted only 21 years, and later the Vietnamese still drove away the Ming Dynasty forces entrenched in the territory of the country and established another country, but the name of the country still adopted the previous "Great Yue".
After "Great Yue", the name of Vietnam became "Vietnam", which was given by the Jiaqing Emperor of the Qing Dynasty.
It is precisely because the Vietnamese people did not change the name of the country that we used the surname of the royal family to distinguish between the Vietnamese dynasties, otherwise the size of the Yue Dynasty alone would be enough to cause people a headache.
