Listening to the concert, can you applaud in the middle?

Bach's A cappella suite for cello

Just after New Year's Day, New Year's concerts from all over the world arrived as scheduled. The world-famous Vienna New Year's Concert brought the round dance music of the Strauss family into thousands of households and into the hearts of Chinese audiences.

Today, more and more Chinese music fans choose to enter the concert hall to welcome the new year in the symphony. For most viewers, however, classical music is still a "mysterious realm" that they do not know how to get involved in.

When we appreciate classical music, what exactly are we appreciating? What are the precautions for going to a concert for the first time? Is there really a difference between buying a CD to play and listening to music online? The surging Q&B invites childa, a veteran of classical CDs, to enter the world of classical music together.

Listening to the concert, can you applaud in the middle?

Understand classical music

@donottag: Is there a threshold for appreciating classical music? How to get started and learn to appreciate?

Cielda: There is no threshold, you can listen to a large number of short, light, fresh and pleasant classical music works.

However, it should be noted that the so-called "introductory excerpts" and "prenatal education gods" and the like, which are similar to this type or are usually very common, often blur the boundaries between classical music and light music, film music, etc. If you really want to appreciate classical music, then from the very beginning, you must touch the pinnacle essence of this art and understand what is the pillar of classical music as an important art category. From the Baroque era to the end of the Romantic era, classical music does have a relatively fixed core repertoire library, if there is a feeling and resonance for a considerable part of the works, then you can gradually enter the world, if you try a little and do not feel, it is estimated that the opportunity has not arrived, there is no need to force entry.

For example, violin works everyone thinks it is quite suitable for getting started, here I recommend Bach's a cappella violin work "Chaconne", try to hear whether it feels?

@柒星: What are the emotions expressed by classical music? Where is its beauty?

Childa: I think the most important thing is the rise after despair and the compassion after thousands of years. Most of the works that are at the peak and have long existed in the heart have these two temperaments.

Classical music does not pursue beauty, you listen to Shostakovich's symphonies, you may feel very obvious "ugly", but this "ugly" is also the charm of classical music, and even the core cultural charm - true.

@MagicWaltz: I found that many great writers such as Milan Kundera and Haruki Murakami are classical music enthusiasts, and murakami's books have appeared in music songs and musician names nearly 800 times. Wondering what kind of connection and commonality there is between literature and music in your opinion?

Childa: Moving literature, moving music, the point of convergence is to "stir" your heart, the so-called "touch the softest point in the heart" . Good literature, good music, the common denominator is "depiction", saying what you want to say that you can't say, expressing emotions that you can't express in words. This is my superficial understanding of the connection between literature and music.

Listening to the concert, can you applaud in the middle?

@Andrea Pirlo: I'm an introductory classical music lover, and I've figured out my own way of appreciating music in a way that's similar to reading (finding structure, capturing themes, macroscopically experiencing feelings), is that accurate?

Childa: You've found the right way to enjoy music that suits you, and that must be the right one. Looking for structure and capturing the theme is to feel the emotion of the music, the power of the music and serve, do not be too deliberate, if a piece of work from the beginning "hit" you, then forget what structure, what theme, immerse yourself in it!

@浣沙石: Can you introduce some introductory classical music repertoire and playing methods?

Childa: I don't want to recommend the so-called "introduction", but I would like to recommend some tracks that I think are more worth feeling:

- Bach Godburg Variations

- Beethoven's Third Symphony

- Brahms Symphony No. 4

- Overture and prelude to some of Wagner's musical plays

- Bruckner Symphony No. 7, first movement

- The first movement of Mahler's Tenth Symphony

The first experience of the concert

@Let's Go to Sea Together: I would like to ask you a question about a concert, when exactly should the applause take place? I followed the trend every time, but when I was addicted to it, I wanted to applaud the other audience and was indifferent. And what does the teacher think of Hisaishi's work? Did he let classical music out of the loop?

Childa: Usually applauds at the end of the song. When immersed in it, experience this feeling, don't applaud and destroy this mysterious atmosphere, haha. But in fact, when listening to the opera, the tenor and soprano came to a "fierce" period, and if they did not applaud, they were really a little sorry, not only clapping, but also shouting bravo or brava!

I especially like his work, which is actually mainly film score and light music, but it is not classical music, it is another art form that is equally popular. Hisaishi made himself fond of classical music and also appeared on records conducting the complete beethoven symphonies.

Listening to the concert, can you applaud in the middle?

@Midnight Pumpkin Will Turn into a Carriage: I love classical music so much! It feels like an inexplicable sense of heaviness. I want to ask the teacher why some people are willing to spend thousands of yuan to listen to concerts, is it really different from what we listen to on the APP? What are the general etiquette for such concerts?

Cielda: The best place to experience classical music is the concert scene, immerse yourself in that "field", even if you fall asleep, you become part of the concert! First of all, from an acoustic point of view, the concert sound is definitely different from the APP. From the perspective of how you feel about music, a specific time gives you a special touch, it doesn't matter where you are or what you are doing.

There is no complicated etiquette in the concert, don't dress too publicly, try not to make a sound during the performance, follow the applause of most people, and so on.

CD "Guardian"

@Rose-colored you: Now that a lot of music can be heard online in digital versions, do you think it's still necessary to buy a physical CD?

Qilda: This question asked me about the sore spot, recently in order to place a few newly bought dishes, a lot of tossing, really no place to put, this room is really not my own living, but these plastic discs live ah.

Indeed, as you said, massive resources can be obtained on the network, fast and convenient, do not occupy the physical place, and now many audio resources on the network are uncompressed mastering resources, compared to compressed physical CDs, the sound quality is better! Objectively speaking, I don't think it's really necessary to buy a physical CD. It's just that I started to enter the world of classical music by listening to CDs, buying discs is my personal way of life for decades, and I am a fool who is extremely conservative and reluctant to accept new things, so I always do such Sisyphus-like stupid things.

Dear friends, the world is moving forward, the times are progressing, embrace change and don't learn from me. "I'm just a remnant of the old days, and there are no ships carrying me in the new era."
