On January 4, the Sichuan Provincial Science and Technology Department announced the seven key laboratories in Sichuan Province to be newly built in 2021.

The Key Laboratory of Sichuan Province is an important part of the province's scientific and technological innovation system, a reserve force and a useful supplement to the State Key Laboratory, an important research base for organizing high-level basic research and applied basic research, gathering and cultivating outstanding scientific and technological talents, carrying out high-level academic exchanges, and having advanced scientific research equipment, and an important carrier for achieving forward-looking basic research, major breakthroughs in leading original achievements, and promoting the combination of production, education and research.

According to the classification of the "Measures for the Construction and Operation of Key Laboratories in Sichuan Province", the provincial key laboratories rely on the construction of colleges and universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises with strong research and development capabilities and technological radiation capabilities, and are divided into two categories: disciplines and enterprises. At the same time, encourage and support the joint efforts of industry, education and research, give play to the complementary advantages of resources, and cooperate to build a provincial weight; encourage the department, city (state) to jointly build a provincial weight, guide and drive the construction of municipal (state) laboratories, and promote the development of the regional scientific and technological innovation system.

Focusing on the key areas and development directions of the province, the Department of Science and Technology, in accordance with the principle of "mature one, demonstrate one, and build a new one", selects the province in a planned and focused manner and maintains a moderate construction scale. According to statistics, there are currently 128 key laboratories in Sichuan Province, including 1 national key laboratory cultivation base jointly built by the province and the ministry, and 3 jointly built by the department and the city.

The reporter noted that the 7 laboratories to be built this time are distributed in Chengdu, Luzhou, Mianyang, Deyang and other places; based on the economic, social and scientific and technological development strategy needs of Sichuan Province, facing the needs of social and industrial development, covering agriculture, police, biomedicine, energy equipment, tobacco and other fields.

When the laboratory was established in 2019, it was the first industrial control network security engineering laboratory in the field of energy equipment in China. According to reports, the energy equipment industrial control system is the basic support for ensuring the security of national energy equipment. The laboratory aims at the research of key technologies and the research and development of protection products for industrial control system network security in the energy field. This is in line with the continuous strengthening of the energy equipment industry proposed by the Tenth Plenary Session of the Eleventh Plenary Session of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee.

Among them are also national leaders in the segment. According to the official news of Sichuan Tobacco, it is planned to rely on Sichuan China Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Agricultural University to jointly build the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Efficient Utilization of Domestic Cigar Tobacco Industry, which is the first provincial and ministerial key laboratory in the field of cigars in China.
