In an article a few days ago, I detailed the three strategies of the upper and lower levels of the hua lazi mold. In the end, Khwarazm chose the middle strategy, heavily fortified in important areas, and other places had the conditions to abandon, thereby dispersing the Mongol Khanate's troops.
When Khwarazm made its decision, they probably conceived of a picture of the Mongol Khanate entering the territory of Khwarazm, immediately harassed by countless guerrillas, and the various fortified cities could make them crash their heads and bleed. When they stumbled to the city of Samarkand, the elite of the Khwarazm who were waiting for them would make the Mongols suffer defeat.
Contrary to his wishes, Khwarazm certainly did not expect that the political work of the Mongol Khanate would be carried out so successfully, and since its entry, except for the obstruction of the city of Khazara defended by Hai'er Khan and the city of Kushi, defended by Timur, the advance of the Mongol army was unusually smooth.

At this time, the Mongol army had been in the country for more than half a year, and had already incorporated most of the key cities in the eastern region into its rule. Faced with this situation, Khwarazm had lost the opportunity to rearrange and had to hold on to the city of Samarkand and fight against Temujin.
Temujin understood what Sultan Mokomad had in mind, and to be honest, Temujin did not necessarily have the certainty of victory in the decisive battle with the elite of Khwarazm in Samarkand City, so when Temujin came to Samarkand City, he did not directly attack the city, but crossed the city of Samarkand and directly attacked the city of Buhuara in the west.
In chincha, "bu hua la" means "academic center", and like the city of Samarkand, it is a heavily guarded city of Hua Lazi Mobu, and it is also ready to fight the Mongols to the death.
At first glance, the difficulty of attacking the city of Bula and the city of Samarkand should be similar, but the difference is that the city of Samarkand is the capital, and the city of Non-Huala is not.
When most of the cities in the eastern region were captured, the soldiers and civilians of Samarkand city may still be able to continue to insist, after all, it is the capital land, but the psychological quality of the military and civilians in this regard is much worse.
The city of Samarkand was more difficult to fight than the city of Buhua, so Temujin had to go one step ahead, cut off the city of Samarkand from other regions, take the eastern region intact, and then use this as a base to make full use of local human, material and financial resources to attack the city of Samarkand and continue to conquer the rest of Khwarazm.
At such a moment when "the mountain rain is about to come and the wind is full of buildings", the Khwarazm army gathered in these two cities has only two choices:
1. Take the initiative to attack and fight the Mongol army to the death;
Second, quickly retreat, retain the living forces in order to try a good strategy.
The first option was obviously not good, and if the Khwarazm army had the courage, it would not have chosen a strategic plan to defend important areas.
Is the second option feasible? On the surface, it seemed feasible, but when Temujin led his army across the city of Samarkand and approached the city of Buhua, they apparently missed the opportunity.
In this context, not to mention the atmosphere of the city of Samarkand, at least there must be an air of despair in the city.
Some people may ask: Why are the Hua Lazi mo people so bloodless, and they do not intend to fight to the death in a desperate moment? This kind of statement is really some standing and talking without waist pain.
Readers who have read my article yesterday should understand that the Mongol siege of the city has a fixed routine: first send emissaries to persuade surrender, and when persuasion is ineffective, send troops to attack the city, and it is wave after wave of siege. On the surface, it looks like an oil-adding tactic, but in fact it can give people the illusion that the Mongol army is endless.
For this kind of routine, the Mongols play very skillfully, they will order many puppet troops to carry the banner of the Mongolian army, create various illusions, infinitely enlarge their own superiority in troops, and at the same time, they will also build more tents, plant flags everywhere, and even drag branches behind the horses to create the illusion of ten thousand horses galloping, making people confused about how many people there are in the Mongolian army.
This constant flow of troops, this situation of the Mongol army all over the mountains, usually completely broke the will to resist the defenders in the city. Because the Mongol army has always had the terrible title of "murderous demon", now seeing that they have so many people, it is natural to feel fear.
In this context, in the face of the threats and inducements of the Mongol emissaries, the hearts of the Khwarazm people were even more full of uncertain thoughts. All in all, the most important thing that comes to mind is not how to fight, but how to surrender or how to retreat.
The main reason for this situation is that the eastern region does not have a high sense of belonging to the Khwarazm.
In the process of the Mongol Western Expedition, not all of them had a smooth journey, such as the loss of luck and baldness, one of the four adopted sons of the Empress Dowager Moon Wheel, who encountered Prince Zalandin of Huarazimo at the Baluwan River, and failed to withdraw in time when the army was withdrawn, so that he was defeated.
This battle was the famous "Battle of Baluwan River", and it was also the biggest defeat in the process of the Mongol Western Expedition. Later generations of readers, when talking about this battle, believe that the misfortune should be fully responsible, on the grounds that he was too superstitious about the psychological tactics of the Mongols.
In my opinion, there is some truth to this statement, but it is not comprehensive, because everyone ignores the location of the battle: the Baluwan River.
The BaluWan River is located in the northeastern region of present-day Kabul, Afghanistan, in the southwestern region of the historical Khwarazm. In other words, the land belongs to the inherent territory of Khwarazm, and they have the home field advantage.
This also proves from the side that although the Khwarazm army is slightly inferior to the Mongol army, the war situation should not show a "one-sided" situation.
The reason why there is a "one-sided" situation is that the eastern region of Khwarazm is not their inherent territory, and it has not been long since it was seized. Under Temujin's superb political offensive, the eastern region quickly abandoned the Khwarazm, which led to the scene of the defeat of the Khwarazm.d'ême.
Of course, the commander of this war was the prince Zalandin of Khwarazm, who I mentioned in an article a few days ago, believing that he was the premier handsome man of Khwarazm, who had extremely good personal qualities, and under the action of various factors, he had a fiasco of misfortune and baldness.
Returning to the truth, he continued to talk about the Mongol army's siege of buhua city. Although they lacked the courage to hold out and fight a decisive battle, they were not willing to stay in the city and wait for death, so they made up their minds to break through and count one by one.
But I don't know who came up with the bad idea, thinking that a direct breakthrough is too dangerous, and it should first sneak up on the Mongol army, disrupt them internally, and then take the opportunity to break through, so that the survival rate is higher.
Is this practice useful? Nature was useful, and in the face of the surprise attack of the army of Buhua lacheng, the Mongol army also retreated immediately after a period of hectic chaos, so as not to cause greater losses.
But when Temujin found out that the army of Buhua City was just bluffing, and they had already fled, they immediately jumped like thunder: Run? Where are you going!
Don't you forget that the enemy they are facing is a highly mobile Mongolian iron horse, who wants to escape in front of them? It's a bit of a whimsical thing.
Sure enough, the Mongol Iron Horse quickly caught up with the fleeing Buhua people, and a massacre began.
By the time the Mongol army returned to buhua, the city gates were already open. The leading figures in the city also stood outside the city and led the people to welcome the Mongol army into the city.
After Temujin led his army into Buhuara Castle, he took the lead in entering the tallest building in the city and asked the representative of Buhuara Castle who accompanied him, "Is this the palace of Suanduan (the principal of Buhuara)?" The accompanying representative said, "This is the temple of the Allah." ”
Temujin understood that this was the largest mosque in the city. The mosque is the mosque, the Mongol army needs to hold a celebration feast here, the war horses are hungry, now you start feeding the horses.
Thus, the chest containing the scrolls became a manger, the scriptures were thrown all over the place, and the horses walked around and trampled a lot. The solemn temples resounded with jubilation, where the Mongols drank, ate meat and sang, the local singers and prostitutes danced, and the local religious leaders fed the Mongols horses and served as the chief stewards of the banquets.
After a celebration feast at the mosque, Temujin delivered a famous speech in the square.
In this speech, Temujin mentions, "You are all guilty, and you are all trembling before me." Why do I say you are guilty? For, if you are not sinful, why would the Great Lord let you meet me? ”
Many people like to mention this famous speech, trying to prove that Temujin is really barbaric and unreasonable. Actually? Most of the people who hold this view are Chinese, because most Chinese have no religious thinking at all.
For this point, I once wrote an article specifically about it: The reason why the historian dared to record this content was not a straight book, but put Temujin in the role of "spokesperson for the gods".
In this context, what Temujin does is the instruction of the gods, and all believers should crawl at Temujin's feet to listen to the instructions.
Think of the time when the Black Death was rampant in Europe, the gods said it was a punishment from God because you were guilty. The result? Everyone went back to their homes, cursing themselves in the most vicious tone, while at the same time whipping themselves with their whips.
Ridiculous? No, that's religious thinking. The Lord (or God) makes sense in what he says and does, he says I'm guilty if I'm guilty, he says I deserve to die I should ask for forgiveness.
Does Temujin really have religious thinking? Of course there was, otherwise he wouldn't have said it.
Temujin's wanton behavior in the mosque was to declare to the believers: I am the messenger sent by the Lord, and he is also His favorite person, and I dare to do the most wanton things in your most sacred place. If you dare not listen to Me, the Lord will never bless you!
This is the embarrassment of religious propaganda: when a conqueror acts recklessly, do you dare to punish him in the name of the gods? Nature does not dare unless you are not killed.
But what if the sanctity of religion is to be guaranteed? Nature can only mythologize the wanton conqueror.
Many years ago, there was a big guy who saw the temple demolished and saw the Buddha smashing the Buddha, what did the local religious administrator say? This grandfather is amazing, he is the legendary True Dragon Heavenly Son, the gods will be afraid of three points when they see him, you and I are mortal, we must not compare with him!
This is also the fundamental reason why Temujin was so brazen in the mosque, but in the end no one dared to hold him responsible.
