The reporter contacted the customer service of the Kindle Jingdong self-operated flagship store to ask why only the youth version of the equipment was in stock, and when other models of equipment were expected to be re-listed. Customer service said that according to the notification they were given, the shortage of goods was due to the lack of chips, so the specific arrival time was uncertain. Regarding whether they will withdraw from the Chinese market, customer service said that they are officially authorized agents of Amazon and have not received any related notices at present.

The reporter then called Amazon's official customer service. Its staff explained that in 2019, Amazon China's official website made business adjustments, when it had removed all domestic retail products including Kindle devices, and only retained e-books and overseas purchase business, so Amazon did not sell Kindle devices online in 2019.
