In the ancient novel "Sui and Tang Dynasty", Wei Chigong left a deep impression on the vast number of readers, and his historical prototype was Wei Chi Jingde, a military general in the late Sui and early Tang dynasties. In the "New Book of Tang", it is recorded that during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of Tang, there was a royal historian named Liu Zangqi, and one day he gave Li Zhi of Tang Gaozong a letter of repercussions, the content of which was the impeachment of Wei Chi Baolin, and the original member Liu Zangqi also wrote very clearly: During the Lantern Festival of the fifteenth day of the first month of that year, a lot of activities for guessing lantern riddles were held in Tang Chang'an City, and for a time men, women, and children came out to join in the fun, and Wei Chi Baolin also walked around the city with several of his men. At this time, Wei Chi Baolin saw that there were several people's girls putting flower lanterns by the river, so Wei Chi Baolin looked over and found that one of the people's girls looked very handsome, so she became interested.
Immediately afterward, Wei Chi Baolin asked his men to bring the minnu over, and after some inquiry, she learned that her surname was Zhang Mingyu, fang was seventeen years old, she was not yet married, and her family lived about three miles outside the city. As a result, Wei Chi Baolin expressed that she wanted to accept her as a concubine, but zhang Yu refused, even if Wei Chi Baolin repeatedly persuaded her not to agree. In the end, Wei Chi Baolin also lost patience, and he ordered his men to tie up Zhang Yu and bring her back to the palace in full view of everyone.
Because people knew that Wei Chi Baolin was a high official of the imperial court, they did not dare to come forward to stop her. A few days later, the news spread in the city, so it reached the ears of Yushi Liu Zangqi, who himself was a person who could not rub sand in his eyes. After liu zangqi investigated, after confirming that there was indeed such a thing, he wrote a letter of impeachment of Lieutenant Chi Baolin overnight.
Emperor Gaozong of Tang was also quite angry when he learned of this, and immediately ordered Wei Chi Baolin to be summoned to the palace for accountability, and asked him to send his daughter Zhang Yu back. Wei Chi Baolin did not dare to disobey the emperor's orders, so she personally sent zhang Yu, the daughter of the people, back to the Zhang family. This incident not only made Wei Chi Baolin lose face, but also disgraced her father, Wei ChiGong.
Wei Chigong is a great hero, but his son is so unorthodox, just like an old saying: "There is no good grass under the big tree."
