The girls from the Sino-German Experimental School in Hungary were recently invited to perform a classical Chinese dance performance at the Hope Ferenc Museum of Asian Art. The performances include three programs: "Tang Palace Night Banquet", "Lotus Picking" and "Spring Rain", among which "Tang Palace Night Banquet" has the most enthusiastic response.

Lai Hua, the principal of the Sino-German Experimental School in Hungary, told Xiaoqiao that it took about half a year for the students to practice the program of "Tang Palace Night Banquet" to the level that they could perform on stage, from decomposition exercises to synthesis rehearsals.

In fact, as a Chinese school that mainly runs on weekends, the Sino-German Experimental School in Hungary can only arrange students to rehearse dance in interest classes after cultural classes, and it is not easy for young children to "take the stage for half a year".

"After Chinese, math and German classes, students only have 15 minutes to change into their practice clothes, prepare for dance class, and then practice for an hour and a half." Lai Hua said that the students who participated in the performance ranged in age from 6 to 14 years old, and they were all "second generation" and "third generation" living in Hungary.

At the Sino-German Experimental School in Hungary, in addition to dance, students also have other interest classes such as calligraphy, Chinese painting, and programming to choose from. Talking about why the students chose the dance class that is quite hard, Lai Hua said that it is all because of love and love.

"In the past, the students also had some costumes in traditional Chinese costumes, which they would wear to their schools in Hungary when they were in school." Lai Hua said that students are willing to show off the beauty of Chinese culture, and some schools will post photos of students participating in dance competitions online.

Lai Hua said that the entire set of performance costumes for "Tang Palace Night Banquet" came from China, and it took two months to cross the ocean before coming to Hungary. When the students saw the costumes of the Tang Dynasty for the first time, they couldn't help but feel a novelty. "They would ask why they were wearing petticoats that made people look fat, and we would tell them stories about the Tang Dynasty and the aesthetic trends of the time." Lai Hua said that the students who participated in the performance of "Tang Palace Night Banquet" are older, have a better foundation in classical dance, and can better digest the cultural background of dance.

"I tell the children that when they perform, they think of themselves as artifacts in a museum, and they suddenly come to life, and they want to show the beautiful stories of thousands of years ago to the people of today through dance, and they can understand that feeling at once." Lai Hua said that the students have learned classical dance since childhood, and their basic skills such as body style, body rhyme, and breath are already very solid, and they can also better understand Chinese culture in dance.

As early as the beginning of this year, the Sino-German Experimental School in Hungary received an invitation to perform classical dance at the Hope Ferenc Museum of Asian Art.

According to Lai Hua, the Hope Ferenc Museum of Asian Art brings together cultural relics from China, Japan, India, Nepal, South Korea and other Asian regions. After the performance, the students of the Sino-German Experimental School in Hungary followed the docent to visit the ancient Gandhara artifacts on display.

"Our students live in a cross-cultural environment from an early age, and in this context, exposure to a more diverse culture not only helps them clarify their own identity, but also enriches their artistic sensibility and everyday way of thinking." Lai Hua said.

In the garden of the Hope Ferenc Museum of Asian Art, there is a "Chinese door", which is said to have been built of Hopper's custom-made bricks in China, and the couplet on the door reads: "Three thousand feet of joy in front of the door, twelve hours of spring outside". After the visit, Lai Hua organized the students to take a group photo in front of this "China Gate".

"The integration of culture and art is not limited by form and time and space, just as students can better understand Chinese in classical dance, and can also witness a Hungarian's love for Chinese culture more than 100 years ago in Budapest today." Lai Hua said.
