In ancient times, the difference between the rich and the poor was enormous, and the only way for the students to soar was the examination of the imperial examination, and before they achieved fame, the feelings could only stand on the sidelines, moreover, women did not have the autonomy of marriage, the so-called "parents' orders, the words of the matchmaker", these big ladies did not have much resistance, they could only obediently listen to their parents and marry a "good person" who had never met.
However, with the collapse of the Qing Dynasty, the feudal system that lasted for more than 2,000 years no longer existed, and when the valve of thought was unsealed, advanced Western ideas were gradually accepted by young people, who let go of their hands and feet and boldly fell in love with the people they liked. However, as the saying goes, "freezing three feet is not a day's cold", even if the previous shackles are gone, but some people with heads and faces in society are still more concerned about reputation, and they do not want their precious daughters to marry an unknown poor boy.
Yuan Xingshu, born in Beijing in 1916, was born to Yuan Liheng, who is known as the "father of China's banking industry", and from this point of view, her starting point in life is much higher than that of ordinary people. Growing up in such a family, Yuan Xingshu naturally had some "fatherly style", she not only studied a large number of classical literature, but also came into contact with advanced Western studies. The superior family situation and excellent family style have given Yuan Xingshu a unique advantage, and her gentleness and tenacity have gradually integrated into the hands and feet.
At the age of 13, Yuan Xingshu went to middle school, and she desperately absorbed the knowledge in the books to pave the way for future life. Unexpectedly, Yuan Xingshu met a man who was very impressed, he was a polymath and a well-mannered history teacher- Chen Zhiping. Chen Zhiping is a native of Hengyang City, Hunan Province, 8 years older than Yuan Xingshu, and his family is very ordinary, which can be said to be worth mentioning compared to Yuan Xingshu. However, Chen Zhiping was a "hard-working" genius, and after graduating from the history department of Fu Jen University in 1929, he taught at several middle schools, and it was during this period that he met Yuan Xingshu, a rich woman.
At that time, Yuan Xingshu's talent loomed, and her temperament was extremely prominent among the yigan students, which soon attracted Chen Zhiping's attention. In this way, Chen Zhiping and Yuan Xingshu gradually developed a good feeling, although they were still teacher-student relations on the surface, but in fact, they were almost at the door. In 1929, Yuan Xingshu confessed to Chen Zhiping, saying that she could leave everything behind and go high with Chen Zhiping without the slightest hesitation. In the face of such a sincere feeling, Chen Zhiping's lack of emotion is false, but there are still many obstacles between the two, saying that yuan Xingshu must be allowed to complete his studies first.
In addition, Yuan Liheng also quickly learned of his daughter's love affair with Chen Zhiping, and surprisingly, instead of obstructing him, he gave his daughter a chance to make a decision, and he wanted to see if Chen Zhiping was worthy of his daughter's lifelong trust. In 1936, the 20-year-old Yuan Xingshu married Chen Zhiping, and although she still had her studies, everything did not matter. However, the unexpected arrival of a small life has broken this seemingly happy situation.
After the two discussed, they planned to beat the fetus out, after all, Yuan Xingshu was still young and should focus on his studies. However, when the two came to the hospital, they were told that Yuan Xingshu was pregnant with a dragon and phoenix fetus, and if they were to be beaten off like this, it would be a pity. After thinking twice, Yuan Xingshu decided to keep the child, she was ready, and she would never give up these two little lives. On April 20, 1938, Yuan Xingshu gave birth to a pair of dragon and phoenix fetuses, daughter Chen Zhe, son Chen Yu, and this Chen Zhe was a well-known talented daughter in the future - Qiong Yao.
