In fact, it is not entirely certain that the ancestors of the Thai people are Chinese, there are historical theories about the origin of the Thai people, and there are three kinds of hot prequel.

First of all, let's talk about the statement related to China: the Thai people are of the same ethnic group as the Dai and Zhuang people, all belong to the ancient Baiyue tribe, which is generally said to be that the Thai people originated in the south of China, and the ancestors were mainly sichuan and Guangxi people before them.
In the history textbook launched by the Thai Ministry of Education, it can be found that "the Thais originated in southern China, and some people were expelled by the imperial court during the Tang Dynasty, so they went south to establish a new homeland in today's Thailand and live and reproduce."
According to the research of some historians in modern China, it has been found that the southwest Yi of China is the scattered race of various tribes of the Baiyue Group, which shows that the ancestors of the Thai people are likely to have appeared in the Qin Dynasty.
In addition to some literature and the research of historians, Thais speak Thai, and there are many similarities between the unique languages of the Dai and Zhuang ethnic groups, not only the grammar and pronunciation, but also more than 500 common roots.
Therefore, it is not out of thin air to say that the ancestors of the Thais came from the Sichuan-Dian region, and there is a very high probability. Even if this claim is not confirmed for the time being, it proves that the Thais in ancient times had very close contacts with the people in the southernmost part of our country.
The second theory is that the ancestors of the Thai people came from some indigenous people who have long lived in the area. Some Thai archaeologists have discovered that in the Ban Chiang region of northeastern Thailand, they have excavated artifacts that are more than 5,000 years old, and they conclude that the Thai mainland has been human activity for more than 5,000 years.
Combined with the situation in our country at that time, many Thai historians believe that it was impossible for our people to travel a long way to Thailand, so it is not unreasonable that the ancestors of the Thai people they say are indigenous peoples.
A third theory says that Thailand originated in the Altai Mountains and the deep reaches of Mongolia. At that time, the origin of the Thai people also attracted the attention of American historians, after many American historians discussed and studied, the result they gave was that the birthplace of the Thai people was in the Altai Mountains and the depths of Mongolia, and even some Thai historians agreed.
However, with the subsequent progress of Soviet archaeologists in the archaeological work near the Altai Mountains, they did not find traces of The Thai life in the ancient ruins here, and even in the history of Mongolia, there was no record of the relevant Thais, which also drove many historians to conclude: "From the Altai Mountains to the whole territory of Mongolia and the development of the Thai people."
However, it is far-fetched to deny this claim completely, and both archaeological excavations and Mongolian literature are relatively limited.
Although there is no accurate result on the question of the ancestors of the Thai people at present, I personally believe that the development of the Thai people is likely to be a combination of the first possibility and the second possibility, and the ancestors of the Thai people can be said to be both "local indigenous and Chinese".
The migration of our people has brought advanced production technology and culture to the local indigenous people, and after a long period of mutual integration, it has created a unique cultural style in Thailand today.
