But it was also in the midst of that chaotic world that a master-level figure appeared. As the old saying goes, "The times make heroes", at that time, there were extremely talented people in all walks of life, and it was they who were brilliant and dazzling, and they also achieved the style of the Republic of China.
The current fast-paced life is in stark contrast to the dedicated research scholarship of that time. The master I want to talk about today is definitely a treasure elder of the industry. He was the famous Confucian master Ma Yifu, who, along with Xiong Shili and Liang Shuming, was known as the "Three Saints" at that time. His reputation is so far away at home and abroad that even the chairman invited him to the party, and there were other generals such as the prime minister present.
Ma Lao was born in the Guangxu period at the end of the 19th century, and his family was very prestigious. His father was a county magistrate, and his mother was from a prominent family. Even if he lived in a privileged environment, Ma was deeply influenced by strict family style, coupled with his intelligence and understanding since childhood, he showed extraordinary talent at an early age, and even had the title of "prodigy" in the local area. When he was only 16 years old, he even surpassed the brothers Zhou Shuren and Zhou Zuoren, and won the first place in the township examination at that time.
When he became an adult, he was favored by tang Shouqian, a famous geographer at the time, so he decided to marry his eldest daughter to him. After the discussion of the parents of both sides, the two were soon married, and the two families married each other well. Later, Ma's father died of illness, and at that time, the ideology was to keep filial piety for three years. But coincidentally, during that period, his wife Tang Yi became pregnant, which did not meet the requirements of the concept. After some discussion, it was finally decided not to have children. Unfortunately, Tang died in this miscarriage, which stabbed the horse in the heart. The husband and wife originally raised eyebrows to respect each other's lives, because after losing a person, Ma never talked about marriage again, and devoted himself to academic research.
In 1902, he came to Shanghai, was interested in Western science, and at the same time, with his ingenuity, he learned English, French and other languages.
In 1903, he became a special translator hired by Prince Pulun and traveled to the United States with the division to participate in the Twelfth World Exposition. In just a few months, there he was baptized with new ideas, changed traditional old ideas, and was determined to save the country. Later, he also successfully translated Capital, which had a great influence on the youth of the time.
Later, he traveled to Japan, but never found the feeling that he could immerse himself in research. Later, when I accidentally saw a book from the Song Dynasty period in China, I was deeply obsessed with it, so I resolutely returned to China and did not ask about the world behind closed doors.
Although he built the car behind closed doors, his reputation was growing. Many people came to visit, and sun Chuanfang, who was extremely powerful at that time, also came to visit, but he was always indifferent.
Later, with the frequent wars and turmoil, the situation was further turbulent, and he took students and books around, and finally accepted Zhu Kezhen's invitation to teach Chinese studies at Zhejiang University.
After the founding of new China, he served as the deputy director of the Museum of Literature and History, and still studied in ancient books and culture. Later, at the invitation of Mr. Chen, he became a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. In 1964, the chairman specially invited him to attend a dinner party with several seniors, and the prime minister sat next to him and quietly listened to the "preaching and teaching" of several elderly people.
After the end of the party, Ma Lao, who had poor eye vision, still insisted on seeing a couplet to give to the chairman and the prime minister. Ma Lao's characters were highly praised by Feng Zikai, and he was even known as a calligraphy master.
In 1967, Ma Lao died at the age of 85.
