At that time, the commander of the Red Twenty-ninth Army was Chen Qianlun, a native of Tingshui, Private Town, Xixiang County, born on July 12, 1906, who was educated, read many progressive books, and joined the Communist Party in 1927. In October 1932, Chen Qianlun led the Jigongtian Armed Uprising and established the Sichuan-Shaanxi Border Guerrilla Force. In February 1933, he led the formation of the 29th Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army and served as its commander.
