Qiu Xuanqing, also known as Qiu Yuanqing, was born in 1327 at the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty.
According to the Taiyue Taihe Mountain Chronicle, Qiu Xuanqing liked to read the Tao Te Ching since childhood, and at the age of 15 he became a Taoist monk, and his first master was Huang Dezhen, the head of the Quanzhen Sect. In the early years of Hongwu, that is, in 1369, the 42-year-old Qiu Xuanqing worshiped under the door of Zhang Sanfeng, the governor of Wudang Province.
At that time, Zhang Zhenren was already a 121-year-old man, although he was a martial artist, but his age was not spared, and it was a bit difficult to walk up the mountain road.
Every time Zhang Sanfeng went out to preach the scriptures, Qiu Xuanqing worked tirelessly to accompany his master, and he worked hard like a subservient servant.
One day, Zhang Zhenren took Qiu Xuanqing out to preach the scriptures, and when the two masters and apprentices reached the top of Zhongnan Mountain, Zhang Zhenren pointed to a dilapidated thatched hut and said, "Disciple, you see, this is the place where the master first learned the Tao, this place is far from the hustle and bustle of the earthly world, and it is the most suitable place for meditation and asceticism." ”
Qiu Xuanqing then said, "I am willing to follow in the footsteps of my master here and cultivate diligently." Zhang Sanfeng nodded satisfactorily after listening to it, and then drifted away.
At that time, Qiu Xuanqing was very surprised, thinking how did the master's legs and feet suddenly become so sharp?
Qiu Xuanqing was left alone in the broken house, and at night the wolves howled outside, and when they looked out through the crack in the door, the tiger and the wolf formed a circle around the outside of the hut, as if standing guard for Qiu Xuanqing.
Although the beast had the intention of protecting, Qiu Xuanqing was still afraid in his heart. In order to pass the time, he walked around the house, and under the light of the kerosene lamp, Qiu Xuanqing found several ancient books, and when he opened them, they were all sermons and martial arts secret books.
Qiu Xuanqing instantly understood that the master wanted to pass on to him what he had been cultivating all his life.
After half a year of painstaking cultivation, Qiu Xuanqing's Daoist level was as good as day and day.
One day, Zhang Zhenren floated in, smiled and said, "Disciple, I think I have been enlightened a lot in the past six months, and if there are any questions, answer questions for the teacher on the spot."
Qiu Xuanqing pounced and bowed, "Thank you Master for your teachings." Then the two had a long conversation throughout the night.
Qiu Xuanqing, who walked out of the hut, had a new look, had talent in his belly, and the world was at his disposal. In order to promote his apprentice, Zhang Zhenren made him the presiding Daoist of the Five Dragon Palace. With the blessing of Zhang Zhenren, Qiu Xuanqing's status in the Quanzhen Sect soared.
In 1368, Zhu Yuanzhang, the ming emperor, proclaimed himself emperor in Nanjing.
At that time, there was a rumor that Zhang Sanfeng had the art of flying, and Zhu Yuanzhang was eager to visit Zhang Zhenren in Wudang Mountain many times, meaning that he wanted to invite Zhang Sanfeng out of the mountain to assist him.
Zhang Sanfeng was reluctant to deal with the imperial court and took advantage of the excuse to hide. However, Zhang Sanfeng also knew not to anger Zhu Yuanzhang: the Great Yuan Dynasty had let him perish, and Wudang Mountain was a ball! Youdao was a bare stick and was still afraid of power, so Zhang Sanfeng had to bow his head and let his apprentice Qiu Xuanqing enter the palace instead of himself to assist Zhu Yuanzhang.
After entering the palace, Qiu Daochang was appointed by Zhu Yuanzhang as the secretary of the Taichang Temple, mainly responsible for royal ceremonies and sacrifices, and the official rank was Zheng Sanpin, which belonged to the high-ranking officials in the dynasty.
However, at this time, Zhu Yuanzhang had a slight regret, after all, he did not invite Zhang Sanfeng. However, with a period of contact, especially one thing that happened, Qiu Daochang finally conquered Zhu Yuanzhang.
The story goes like this: One day, Lao Zhu took a group of officials and Qiu Daochang to the Tianjie Temple in Nanjing to offer incense. After arriving at the main hall, according to the regulations, Zhu Yuanzhang was required to kneel to worship the Buddha statue of Emperor Zhenwu, when Zhu Yuanzhang turned to the attendants and asked, "Do I kneel or not kneel?"
Zhu Yuanzhang thought that kneeling down to notice his own fall, not kneeling appeared to be not sincere enough, kneeling is not, not kneeling is not, not kneeling is not, so there is this question.
Officials looked at each other and did not know how to answer.
At this time, Qiu Xuanqing relieved Lao Zhu with a word, and Qiu Daochang said: "The present Buddha does not worship the past Buddha." ”
Zhu Yuanzhang was very impressed when he heard this sentence, and thought to himself, "Since they are all Buddhas, there is no need to be formal. Zhu Yuanzhang longyan was overjoyed, and rewarded Qiu Xuanqing with one hundred and two golds on the spot.
After returning to the palace, Zhu Yuanzhang was still unsatisfied, and he crowned Qiu Xuanqing as the left governor of The Imperial History and the secretary of the Taichang Temple, and his power was further increased, in addition to the royal sacrifices, he was also in charge of the affairs of Taoism in the world, and for three generations, Qiu Daochang became a hot figure in the dynasty.
In the past, people were very superstitious and full of reverence for Buddhism and Taoism, Zhu Yuanzhang used this psychology of people to use Taoism to bind and rule the people, and then Qiu Daochang took his professional knowledge to the extreme, and directly photographed Zhu Yuanzhang comfortably.
The pug desperately wagged its tail to please the owner, and the master was not stingy, in order to encourage Qiu Daochang, Zhu Yuanzhang was happy and gave him two beautiful palace girls.
At that time, Qiu Xuanqing was blindfolded, thinking that although there was no stipulation that Daoists could not marry wives, but with his current position in the dynasty, marrying a wife and taking a concubine was bound to affect his own image, what would the master think? I am an example to all the teachers and disciples, and my image must not collapse.
In addition, Zhu Yuanzhang is sinister and vicious, and it is not ruled out that he tested me with a beauty plan.
It is really a good thing to grind, Zhu Yuanzhang gave beauty to Qiu Daochang, brought him sweet troubles, the collection is not, the push is not, the acceptance of Zhu Yuanzhang said that he was lustful, pushed Zhu Yuanzhang said that I have violated the emperor's orders.
How can this be done?
Or is Qiu Dao resourceful and thinks that I can't influence the emperor, and I can't influence myself? Back at home, Qiu Daochang picked up his Wudang sword and "clicked" to cut his "that" with a loud bang, causing Qiu Daochang to roll in pain.
After half a year of recovery, although the body recovered Qiu Daochang, he became a eunuch, and the eunuch meant that everyone went to the brain to make up for it, which could be bitter for two beautiful palace women.
Sometimes the future of being cruel to himself will be immeasurable, and since then Qiu Daochang, in the eyes of Zhu Yuanzhang, has become a saint, and he has almost erected a monument for him.
Twenty-five years had passed, and one night, after Qiu Daochang finished meditating and chanting, he suddenly said to the disciples around him, "Tomorrow I will leave, so don't be sad at that time." ”
At the end, he summoned his close disciple and instructed him to bury his treasure in the grave when he died, and repeatedly told him not to forget, otherwise he would have no face to see his parents underground. The disciple nodded tearfully.
The next morning, Qiu Daochang did not wake up again, he went with a serene smile, at the age of 67.
Zhu Yuanzhang was overwhelmed with grief, and after three days of quitting the dynasty, he sent a letter to Qiu Daochang, who was able to get such a long favor as a Taoist priest in the Ming Dynasty, and only Qiu Xuanqing was alone.
