Vasily Kandinsky (Василий Кандинский Wassily Kandinsky , December 16, 1866 [4] – December 13, 1944) was a Russian-born French painter and art theorist. Kandinsky, along with Pierre Mondrian and Malevich, is considered a pioneer of abstract art, but there is no doubt that Kandinsky is the most famous. He also co-founded a short-lived but influential art group, the Young Knights. Kandinsky's paintings sold for nearly fifteen million dollars. The Solomon Guggenheim Museum is one of the largest collectors of Kandinsky's works.

Vasily Kandinsky is one of the great figures of modern art and the founder of modern abstract art in theory and practice. His treatises such as "On the Spirit of Art" written in 1911, "On the Problem of Form" in 1912, "Points, Lines to Surfaces" in 1923, and "On Concrete Art" in 1938 are all classic works of abstract art and a revelation of modern abstract art.
