In December 1950, when the Korean War entered the second campaign, the 40th Army of the Volunteer Army, in accordance with the strategic deployment of Shiji, formulated a battle plan of using a regiment of troops to forcibly cross the Cheongcheon River, directly into Yulongpu, and finally block the enemy's rear road. On the one hand, the weather was extremely cold at that time, and our volunteer troops were still wearing single clothes and single pants and shoes, forcibly crossing the Cheongcheon River, no boats, of course, armed crossing, in such extremely cold weather, non-combat attrition, will definitely occur, and it is unpredictable.
On the other hand, after the successful armed crossing, there were three US military camps opposite, which were real US troops, not South Korean troops, and the sacrifice was unpredictable to break through the positions of the three US military camps. At the same time, even if the positions of the three US military camps were broken, after reaching the designated location, how many people were left in the whole regiment? This is also unpredictable. The most important thing is that after arriving at the designated place, how can the remaining unpredictable force be able to complete the task of intercepting the enemy given by the superior?
Therefore, Comrade Li Linyi, commander of the 359th Regiment, who was undertaking this task, finished arranging the tasks at the military meeting of the battalion company, and the cadres of the battalion and company present all bowed their heads, and none of them spoke.
