● On the 30th, Hebei Fengning Pumped Storage Power Station was officially put into operation to generate electricity, which is currently the world's largest pumped storage power station, creating four world firsts: the world's first installed capacity, the world's first energy storage capacity, the world's first underground plant scale, and the world's first underground cavern group scale. Fengning Power Station has a total installed capacity of 3.6 million kilowatts, an annual design of 6.612 billion kWh of power generation, and an annual pumped amount of 8.716 billion kWh, which will serve the green power supply of the Beijing Winter Olympics. Recently, a European scientific team called SeaClear developed a robotic system that can collect garbage underwater and successfully conducted the first test of the prototype. The robotic system consists of four autonomous robots that distinguish garbage from marine flora and fauna through deep learning algorithms and acoustic sensors. The accuracy rate in sorting underwater waste will be expected to reach 80%, and 90% of the waste will be successfully collected. (Source: Science and Technology Daily)
● According to the Physicist Organization Network reported on the 29th, immunologists from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the United States determined the biochemical "switch" and corresponding working mechanism that controls the development of regulatory T cells. These findings are a major advance in scientists' understanding of regulatory T cell development and function, helping them develop better therapies to treat autoimmune diseases and cancer. New discoveries
●A few days ago, the archaeologists of the Sanmenxia Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology discovered the early Warring States tomb group in cooperation with the local infrastructure, with more than 260 tombs and a large number of burial items unearthed, including bronze, jade, bone and so on. Among them, the bronze chimes of the Warring States period were first discovered since the establishment of Sanmenxia in 1986. In addition to the tombs, archaeologists also found 4 horse pits, each of which buried two horses. At present, the relevant excavation and collation work is being carried out in an orderly manner. Recently, a team from the Bordeaux Astrophysics Laboratory in France used data from several telescopes and other facilities at the European Southern Observatory to discover at least 70 new interstellar planets in the Milky Way. This is the largest set of interstellar planets ever discovered by astronomers, an important step toward understanding the origins and characteristics of these mysterious planets that "wander" in the Milky Way.
