Zhou Guang recalled that he had been exposed to programming since junior high school, and had the opportunity to contact various precision instruments and equipment, and may have opened up a new world of his own at that time.

In his freshman year of high school, he represented the school in the "Robot Olympiad" by chance. "At that time, there was no experience, not even a supervisor, relying only on some of the school's equipment, from beginning to end, it was all self-made, including studying mechanical structures and programming," he said. In the end, I actually got the gold medal. I think this has a lot to do with the fact that I like to do things since I was a child. ”

After that, Zhou Guang entered the "Basic Science Class" of Tsinghua University, in addition to robots, he also began to participate in physics competitions and won the first prize at the international level, so he laid a solid foundation in mathematics and physics. When it comes to the company's core competitiveness and advantages, Zhou Guang bluntly said that it is a technical barrier. Citing the recently announced $10,000 L4 autonomous driving solution as an example, the company is currently the only company in the industry that can achieve L4 autonomous driving at such a low price, which shows the company's leading technology and underlying competitiveness.

Since autonomous driving is difficult to achieve absolute safety, some potential contingencies are still difficult to avoid. In fact, at present, the L4 level automatic driving solution competes with a "takeover rate", that is, the "takeover mileage" that determines the realization of highly automatic driving (L4 level) in the road in the core area of the city, and one of the indicators is whether it can reach 10,000 kilometers.

At present, many autonomous driving companies are two or more business routes coexist, for example, Yuanrong Qixing is mainly Robotaxi and the same city freight two major businesses. Zhou Guang said: "Initially, we chose this business with a deeper consideration. Because for start-ups, they can only do well if they focus on one thing. ”

Zhou Guang said: "In this way, we can use funds and talents very efficiently. Autonomous driving will become standard in smart cars

As for whether automatic driving will become the standard for smart cars, Zhou Guang believes that back in 2000, mobile phones were not standard; in 1990, telephones were not standard. Therefore, the wheel of scientific and technological development cannot be stopped. Today, autonomous driving may not be the standard, but I think that over time, autonomous driving will no longer be science fiction, but will become the standard for smart cars, and even become infrastructure, become a part of people's lives.

When it comes to business models, Zhou Guang believes that the form of charging for autonomous driving still needs to be determined by the market, one may be a one-time high fee, and the other may be a subscription system, that is, monthly payment. He said that he prefers the subscription system, with the maturity of technology, the entire automatic driving research and development investment and cost will be lower and lower, I believe that the subscription system will be accepted by more users.

At the same time, autonomous driving can be understood as an "AI driver". The landing of the L4 level autonomous driving solution means that the labor cost of the next driver will be saved, and the overall cost will be greatly reduced. In the future, the cost of autonomous driving will certainly be much lower than the cost of labor, thus promoting its widespread application.

Zhou Guang said: "Autonomous driving may be difficult to achieve profitability in the short term, but in the long run, a healthy business model and a certain profitability are indispensable. So, if you want to be profitable, you have to be cheap, that is, reduce costs. "At present, the general L4 autonomous driving solution is more than $50,000, which is obviously difficult to be mass-produced. In the future, after mass production, the cost of this solution will further decline, and the final price may be 20,000-30,000 yuan.

In July this year, Robotaxi, which started from Yuanrong, has launched trial operations in Shenzhen's Futian District and achieved a certain degree of commercialization. Zhou Guang stressed that Futian District is the core area of Shenzhen, which is no longer a closed environment, but a regional operation attempt. He believes that the future of Robotaxi is an inevitable trend, especially for L4 autonomous driving, an all-weather, all-terrain scene is particularly important.

Finally, Zhou Guang introduced the product planning of Yuanrong Qixing: from 2022 to 2023, Yuanrong Qixing will expand in-depth technical cooperation with the main engine factory and develop a vehicle-grade front-loading mass production program. It is expected that by 2024, cars equipped with L4 autonomous driving systems will begin mass production and enter the market on a large scale.
