During the arduous period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, our heroic Eighth Route Army and the New Fourth Army carried out guerrilla warfare behind enemy lines for a long time, and in addition to dealing with the murderous Japanese army and the stubborn army that wanted to swallow us in one bite, we also had to deal with some puppet armies, various local warlords, and armed groups. In the face of the great national righteousness, we uphold the principle of uniting all forces that can be united to jointly resist the aggressors; just as it is said in the singing section of "Shajiabin," "Set up the eight immortal tables, entertain sixteen parties, and all those who come are guests, all by mouth." Relying on our outstanding united front policy, we have been able to deal with small warlords and land snakes in the major anti-Japanese base areas with ease, so that our base areas and anti-Japanese contingents have also continued to develop and grow.

In the face of the complicated and changeable situation at that time, even if some of us had previously "encircled and suppressed" the Red Army and had a deep hatred with us, as long as he fought the Japanese army, did not do too much evil, and then cooperated sincerely with our army, we would not blame the past, give a very good way out, and there was still a good future after the founding of the country, such as a figure like Wu Huawen, a warlord in the form of a wall, and did not embarrass him.
Today, we introduce two small warlords who were active in eastern Zhejiang during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, one named Tian Xiushan and the other named Zhang Junsheng, both of whom were not only fellow villagers in Hebei, but also from the same unit of the Independent 45th Brigade, and at the Battle of Songhu on August 13, all of them suffered heavy casualties and were defeated. Jointly turned face to attack the Eastern Zhejiang Column, and later jointly re-repaired with the Eastern Zhejiang Column.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, in 1955, Zhang Junsheng was awarded the rank of founding colonel, but his brother Tian Xiushan was executed in public trial. So, what kind of life trajectory did the brothers go through?
On August 15, 1937, the entire brigade of the independent 45th Brigade was concentrated in Jingdezhen Square, Jiangxi, and Zhang Luanji announced to the officers and men of the whole brigade that they would go to Shanghai to fight on the same day and participate in the Battle of Songhu.
Among them, the special task force regiment of the 45th Brigade (regimental commander Tian Xiushan, deputy regimental commander Zhang Junsheng) was stationed in Jiashan, Pinghu, Wujiang, and Qingpu counties to assist the Tenth Army In frontal combat, and was ordered to contain the Japanese army's activities in Jiashan, Songjiang, Zhujiajiao, Luxu, Tongli, Lili and other places, participated in several small-scale battles, achieved certain results, and dealt a blow to the fierce flames of Japanese puppets and traitors.
When the two men were stationed here, they had commanded a surprise attack on Tongri Rikou, and they led their troops to charge forward, and their men had light machine guns, rifles and other weapons. After entering the town, he leaned forward, rushed from the Park Bridge to the Zhoujia Tomb (now the north head of the People's Square), the team dispersed, lay down and shot at the Japanese stronghold (that is, the present-day Nanhaolong Central Primary School, which is a three-story building), Tian Xiushan sent another person to rush into Nanhao Alley, throw grenades, and attack with fire. The Japanese Kou were condescending, returning fire with heavy fire, and also sent reinforcements from Wujiang, but Tianbu did not retreat, and the battle wounded 3 Japanese troops. The news was reported in the English-language Mirler's Review newspaper in Shanghai and other newspapers.
Subsequently, in December 1938, they set up an ambush at YoujiaGang to intercept the Japanese fleet, killing 12 Japanese Kou and sinking all the ships in Sanbaidang. During this battle, 2 Japanese Kou fled to Shenjiagang, one of whom was killed by the peasants with a hoe and an iron, and the other fled to Luxu. The more the day, the Japanese Kou came to take revenge and burned the port of Youjia. At the same time, in order to find out the law of the enemy's exchanges, he designed to intercept the Japanese motorboats in the middle of Tongli to Wujiang, captured 2 Japanese troops alive, and completed the task of going to the combat zone.
It can be said that under the leadership of Tian Xiushan and Zhang Junsheng, the special service regiment of the 45th Brigade, still fought some victorious battles, and the two of them were once awarded by the Nationalist government and praised by the people as anti-Japanese heroes, for this reason, the independent 45th Brigade was organized into the newly organized 30th Division, Zhang Luanji was the commander of the division, and the special service regiment was reorganized into the 88th Regiment, regimental commander Tian Xiushan; the 89th Regiment, regimental commander Zhang Junsheng. Both of them led a regiment of troops.
However, at this time, Tian Xiushan usually did not pay attention to ideological reform, his life was corrupt, his morality was corrupt, and he gradually revealed his fierce and brutal nature as a bandit, and more importantly, he had no concept of right and wrong, nor did he have real patriotic feelings, there was no bottom line in doing things, the real milk was the mother, and which side was advantageous, which led him to jump between the three parties of the Kuomintang, the Communist Party and Japan like a chameleon, so that Tian Xiushan and his brother Zhang Junsheng embarked on a completely different life path.
At the beginning, Tian Xiushan was dissatisfied with the factions within the Nationalist army, excluding dissidents, and suppressing the miscellaneous army, so he secretly contacted the Japanese army, and the two sides negotiated and reached an agreement to get a large amount of money and weapons and equipment, and the Japanese army also got Tian Xiushan's troops and the territory he defended. But not long after, Tian Xiushan heard that the Japanese were going to avenge his former anti-Japanese revenge, and was preparing to send sacrifices to trap him. At this time, his brother Zhang Junsheng became the commander of the 30th Division, and he once again helped him, just when the number of the 88th Regiment was still empty, Tian Xiushan returned to the 30th Division as the commander of the 88th Regiment, and he became Zhang Junsheng's subordinate. However, not long after he became the commander of the regiment, he repeated the same mistake, and Tian Xiushan once again surrendered to the Japanese army and became the "Commander of the Anmin Column of Bandits in Eastern Zhejiang" of the Wang puppet regime.
During this period, the Kuomintang diehards launched an offensive against the New Fourth Army, and at the beginning, Tian Xiushan was still righteous, and he secretly sent information such as the enemy's troop deployment to the New Fourth Army, and claimed that he would strictly guard neutrality, would never shoot a shot at the New Fourth Army, and gave our army a certain good feeling of staying behind, but with the unification and reorganization of the troops in the eastern zhejiang territory of the Kuomintang Third Theater, the 30th Division was abolished, and the 88th Regiment belonging to Tian Xiushan and the 89th Regiment of Zhang Junsheng's department were upgraded to the Advancing Fourth Column and the Fifth Column. Tian Xiushan was promoted to major general of the fourth column, and Zhang Jun was promoted to major general of the fifth column.
Tian Xiushan and Zhang Junsheng changed their minds under the inducement of the Kuomintang, and Tian Xiushan, who had always promised to sit on the mountain and watch the tiger fight, suddenly launched a fierce attack on the flank of our army. Under the surprise attack of the enemy, the New Fourth Army was forced to withdraw from the battle, and Tian Xiushan led his troops to capture part of the base area of our army. After Tian Xiushan occupied our army's base area, he acted recklessly, not only wantonly destroying our army's left-behind organs and killing personnel in the rear of our army, but also robbing property and massacring the people, and doing all kinds of bad things. The surprise attack on Tian Xiushan caused a major defeat of the Zhejiang Eastern Column of the New Fourth Army.
On the eve of the comprehensive victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Tian Xiushan, who was ignorant of current affairs and capricious, once again openly surrendered to Japan as a Han Khan, and was incorporated by the Japanese army as the "Third Task Force of the Central Taxation Police Regiment", stationed in Shangyu (Fenghui), Xu Ao, and Ding zhai street, and stationed in Yaobei to take over the defense of the Disimen stronghold. At this time, there were still more than two months left before the final victory of the War of Resistance. At this time, our Zhejiang Eastern Column took the initiative to tear its face and launched the "Tian Tian" campaign, determined to completely eliminate the Tian Xiu Shan Department, because at this time the War of Resistance was close to victory, and tian Xiu Shan had no use value. After more than a month of fighting, he captured Shangyu, the old lair of Tian Xiushan, and eliminated most of the main force of TianBu, and Tian Xiushan fled with the remnants, and since then there has been no strength on the dominant side.
After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the end of Tian Xiushan arrived, and the people and horses around him were scattered and fled for their lives, and he became a lonely man, and he arrested Tian Xiushan on the charge of traitorous piety and imprisoned him in prisons in Shanghai, Nanjing, Hangzhou and other places. Tian Xiushan, who had no money and no power, came to the father-in-law's house in Shen Lane, Zhujiajiao, Qingpu County, and lived with his wife Wu Wenjuan, and the couple opened up two wastelands, planted melons, vegetables and edamame, and lived an ordinary life of male cultivators and female weavers.
As a person who once dominated the side, he may feel a little unwilling at this time, but he thinks that it is not bad to save his life. But he thought wrongly, skynet restored, neglected and not leaked. In 1950, Tian Xiushan, a public enemy of the people with three surnames and his hands stained with the blood of revolutionaries, was finally arrested and arrested, and a public trial meeting was held in Lianglong, sentenced to death, and executed on the spot! He was forty-one years old. Tian Xiushan found his final destination.
At this time, Zhang Junsheng, a righteous brother who had carried a gun with Tian Xiushan and gone to the battlefield together, embarked on a completely different path of life from Tian, and although he had also been an enemy of our army, he had a discipline and a bottom line compared to Tian Xiushan, and he had not surrendered to the Japanese and falsehood, nor had he ever been a traitor. Later, he led his troops to participate in the Liberation War, served as the deputy chief of staff of the first column of the East China Field Army, changed from a small miscellaneous warlord who was a dominant party to a senior leading cadre of our army, and was awarded the rank of colonel after liberation, and died in 1995 at the age of 90.
Posterity sighed: A pair of worship brothers, almost the same life trajectory, but out of the world of two roads, why is the gap so big? It is indeed a sigh of relief and emotion.
