Qiu Shaoyun was born in a poor family, and more unfortunately, he lost his father at the age of 9 and his mother at the age of 11, in order to survive, he went to work for the landlord at the age of 13, suffered all the humiliation and oppression, and the tragic experience of his childhood made him hate the old society very much and longed for liberation.
Later, under the turbulent society, he joined the people's army and became a member of the revolutionary road.
For the sake of peace in the motherland, he embarked on the battlefield of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
On the battlefield, he was bent on defending his homeland and not afraid of bloody sacrifices, facing the fierce Battle of 391 Heights, he wrote a declaration on the blood book that "he would rather sacrifice himself than expose the target", took the initiative to apply for participation in the war, and voluntarily carried out a lurking mission under the enemy's gun.
In the course of the mission, the incendiary bombs dropped by the enemy landed not far from him, and Mars splashed on him, igniting his cotton coat. He was next to the ditch at the time, but in order not to expose the target, he clenched his teeth, endured the sharp pain of the burning fire, and kept the slightest trace, without a word, with amazing willpower, until he died heroically.
Qiu Shaoyun, who was only 26 years old when he died, was burned by the fire for half an hour, and when the fire was extinguished, he was already scorched. At that time, many comrades-in-arms saw the whole process of his burning, and they were heartbroken for him and deeply shocked and encouraged by him. After entering the total attack time, the lurking warriors shouted
"Avenge Comrade Qiu Shaoyun"
, fiercely fought with the enemy, and after half an hour, completely annihilated the enemy's reinforced company.

The Volunteer Army had an ironclad rule that under no circumstances should wounded and sacrificed soldiers be left on the battlefield. Therefore, after Qiu Shaoyun's sacrifice, Han Yuanquan and three other soldiers sacrificed their lives to the enemy's forward position to regain his body, and when they reached the place where Qiu Shaoyun was sacrificed, they were stunned by the picture in front of them.
They did not know who the sacrificed soldier was, but they saw that the body had been burned, emitting a sour smell, the clothes and body had been pasted together, and the remains were pressed under the guns and ammunition.
There are also four earthen troughs about 15 cm long and wide.
In the moment of grief, the three warriors seized the time to carry the soldier's body on a stretcher and quickly withdrew, but soon encountered the enemy's attack, and the enemy's fire became more and more fierce, and they could only take turns to crawl forward with the soldier's body on their backs.

His clothes were torn and his shoulders were injured.
After much painstaking effort and a rain of bullets from the enemy, they finally moved the soldier's body to the hillside where the comrades were buried at that time. The situation was urgent, and after they wrapped the body in two white cloths, they buried the warrior in grief and marked his grave.
Later, Han Yuanquan and others learned that this warrior who was scorched by enemy artillery fire was called Qiu Shaoyun, who endured the burning of the fire in order not to expose the target, and the four earthen troughs were in his intense pain.
Left behind by the hands and feet that caught the pedals into the soil.

After knowing the truth, Han Yuanquan wept bitterly, Qiu Shaoyun sacrificed too bravely, and his deeds spread quickly, and everyone was shocked by his tenacious willpower and mourned for the painful experience before his death.
Later, with Peng Dehuai's approval, Qiu Shaoyun was also changed from second-class merit to special merit, which was a well-deserved honor for him.
Because of his special merits, Qiu Shaoyun needed to be reburied, and at that time the Korean War was not over, which was a difficult task, but Geng Shiquan and others still boarded the Shangganling position surrounded by the enemy and risked their lives and the cold weather to find the remains of the martyr Qiu Shaoyun.
After finding the brick record of Qiu Shaoyun's burial at the martyr's burial place, they dug a foot deep in the frozen soil before they saw Qiu Shaoyun's body lying there quietly. Geng Shiquan said with reverence:
"Comrade Qiu Shaoyun, your comrades-in-arms have come to escort you back to the motherland..."
At 4:00 p.m. on February 22, 1953, Qiu Shaoyun's body finally returned to the motherland, and the remains of Huang Jiguang, Sun Zhanyuan and Liu Guangyi were sent to the Shenyang Volunteer Army Martyrs' Cemetery for burial. Before the burial, tens of thousands of people mourned the martyrs at the memorial service, sending them off, forever remembering the brave and tenacious heroic soul and paying tribute to the immortal spirit of the martyrs.
