On December 28, the "14th Five-Year Plan" Medical Equipment Industry Development Plan was released on the morning of December 28, and the "Planning" proposed that by 2025, the medical equipment industry base will be advanced, the level of modernization of the industrial chain will be significantly improved, the mainstream medical equipment will basically achieve effective supply, the performance and quality level of high-end medical equipment products will be significantly improved, and the comprehensive support capacity for public health and medical health demand will be initially formed.

At the press conference held on the same day, Wang Weiming, director of the First Department of Equipment Industry of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, introduced that the "Planning" is the first national-level industrial development plan in the field of medical equipment, which will focus on seven key areas such as diagnostic testing equipment, treatment equipment, monitoring and life support equipment, traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis and treatment equipment, maternal and child health equipment, health care rehabilitation equipment, and active implant interventional equipment.

In addition, the "Planning" also proposes five special actions, such as industrial basic research action, key medical equipment supply capacity improvement action, high-end medical equipment application demonstration base construction action, emergency medical rescue capacity improvement action, medical equipment industry and application standard system improvement action.

Wang Weiming introduced that during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, China's medical equipment industry achieved rapid development, and the market size increased from 480 billion yuan in 2015 to 840 billion yuan in 2020, with an average annual compound growth rate of 11.8%. At present, it has formed a product system of more than 1,100 categories in 22 categories, covering all aspects of health and health, and basically meeting the needs of medical institutions in China such as diagnosis and treatment, pension, chronic disease prevention and emergency rescue.

Qi Guixin, a first-level inspector of the Department of Planning, Development and Informatization of the National Health Commission, said that at present, the variety of medical equipment products suitable for the needs of the elderly in China is not rich enough, and the medical care services are not convenient and diverse enough.

"Population aging is the basic national condition of China for a long period of time in the future, facing prominent characteristics such as large base and fast growth rate." By the end of 2020, China's elderly population aged 60 and above will reach 260 million, and the elderly aged 60 and above will grow at a rate of about 10 million people per year in the next five years, and the number of elderly people with advanced age and disability and dementia will continue to increase. Qi Guixin pointed out that in the future, the demand for old-age services in China will continue to grow, and the contradiction between supply and demand of old-age and health services will be further highlighted.

In this regard, the "Planning" clearly states that it is necessary to vigorously develop medical equipment such as health care rehabilitation and intelligent assistance that are suitable for the needs of the elderly. Accelerate the research and development of new nursing and rehabilitation equipment based on robots, intelligent vision and voice interaction, brain-computer interface, human-computer interaction and intelligent control technology, and develop intelligent equipment such as intelligent rehabilitation robots, intelligent mobility assistance systems, and multimodal rehabilitation wheelchairs, so as to provide better assistance for the daily life and travel of the elderly.

Qi Guixin also said that in the future, new medical equipment at the home community level will be developed, and the integrated development of home community and home medical and health care will be promoted. Explore embedding medical and health perception equipment in health buildings such as homes and public places in the living areas of key groups such as the elderly and chronic diseases, so as to achieve real-time monitoring and evaluation of personal health information, and carry out intelligent disease early warning and active intervention.
