Meta: Cambria will be released in 2022 and will not replace Ques

Andrew Bosworth, head of Meta Reality Labs, said the Meta Quest 2 product life cycle will be very long, and Project Cambria products will not replace Quest 2, they will coexist.

This has raised concerns among Quest users that cambria, a new high-end VR all-in-one, is slowly becoming the frontier and center of Meta, much like the way Quest 2 has slowly replaced Quest 1 over the past 14 months. In fact, some applications released on Quest 2, such as Resident Evil 4 and Medal of Honor, are no longer available to run on Quest 1.

Meta: Cambria will be released in 2022 and will not replace Ques

Previously announced at Connect, Meta will not be part of the Quest series, and Cambria is a device focused on mixed reality applications, which will be equipped with additional sensors to enable eye tracking and face tracking, which will use optical technology to make it thinner than existing headsets while also providing high-quality visual effects that help it reconstruct and enhance the real world around you. These new features also mean that Cambria will be much more expensive than Quest 2, and Meta is said to have developed Project Cambria not to market widely, but to help Meta realize its vision of the metaverse.

Meanwhile, Andrew Bosworth also revealed that Cambria is scheduled to be released in 2022, and there is no specific release time yet.
