Meta High-end VR Headset Project Cambria or there are two versions

Recently, YouTube blogger Brad Lynch found in a piece of code that two prototype versions of Meta's high-end VR headset Project Cambria, codenamed Seacliff and Seabright, are equipped with two different screens of mini LED and Micro-OLED, which seems to mean that Meta is developing two versions of Cambria.

It is understood that Project Cambria is a high-end VR headset announced by Meta at last year's FC conference, which is not designed to massively expand VR users like the $299 Quest 2, but is more focused on providing high-end features to prove the future of VR in various ways, which is characterized by upgrades such as eye tracking and RGB video perspective.

Earlier code information showed that Meta may be working on two products at the same time: Seacliff and Seabright. Analysts predict that Cambria will be equipped with a Mini LED display, and the Quest 3 will feature a Micro-OLED screen. So many people think that Seacliff should refer to Cambria, while Seabright refers to Quest 3.

It is reported that since Cambria's announcement last year, only Seacliff's code has been updated, but according to the latest Quest 2 Kernel mining, Brad Lynch found that Seabright's code has been updated, and he believes that Seacliff and Seabright should be the two prototype exploration directions of Cambria, while Quest 3 has another point.

The information shows that the specifications of Seacliff and Seabright are basically the same, and the main difference between the two is the display. Among them, Seacliff will use Mini LED, and Seabright's Micro-OLED display resolution can reach 3K per mesh, compared to mini LED, Micro-OLED cost is more expensive.

All in all, Lynch guessed that Cambria will have two versions, namely "Quest Plus" with Mini-LED screen and "Quest Pro" with Micro-OLED screen, Meta may offer different grades of products such as low-end Quest 2, mid-range Quest Plus and high-end Quest Pro. At the same time, Lynch also pointed out that the Seacliff project is nearing completion and is expected to be officially unveiled in the Q2 quarter of this year.
