Eventually, he was chased by the People's Liberation Army near the Dadu River and completely annihilated, and song Xilian, who had failed miserably, tried to draw a gun and commit suicide, but was stopped by the guard platoon leader, and later he became a prisoner of the People's Liberation Army, and later entered the Gongdelin War Criminals Management Center for reform, becoming one of the first war criminals to be pardoned.
Interestingly, during Song Xilian's time in Gongdelin, he and Sun Yuanliang, who was far away in Taiwan, had been fighting a war of words, and the two of them were "Eagle Dog General" and the other was "Flying General", and their reputation was quite loud, but Sun Yuanliang was a name for insult.
Song Xilian was not soft on attacking the Japanese, he was called "Eagle Dog General" by the Japanese army because he gave the Japanese army heavy blows in many battles, he was not disgusted by the pejorative title, and even happy, which just showed that he hurt the devil, and Song Xilian was not ambiguous about the anti-Japanese matter.
However, Sun Yuanliang was the opposite of him, the Han Dynasty fierce general "Flying General" Li Guang everyone knew, but Sun Yuanliang's title of "Flying General" was completely ironic to him, he was a general who flew away when he saw the Japanese army, so he was also called "Flying General".
Song Xiliang and Sun Yuanliang were classmates of the huangpu phase I, the relationship between the two was general, there was no complaint in the past, there was no enmity in recent days, Sun Yuanliang was smart and well-behaved during the Whampoa period, and was deeply valued by Chiang Kai-shek, all the way up, and was an outstanding student in the Huangpu phase, when Song Xilian was not as good as him.
Sun Yuanliang's first time as a "flying general" was during the Northern Expedition, when defending Nanchang, he was secretly attacked by Sun Chuanfang, abandoned the city and fled, strangely, Chiang Kai-shek did not pursue his responsibility, but sent him to Japan for further study, and continued to reuse after returning to China, in 1931, he became the brigade commander of the 1st Brigade of the First Division.

On the eve of Sun Yuanliang's withdrawal from Shanghai, he sent people to transport thousands of large bags of cotton yarn from the unguarded Toyota Spinning Factory in Japan, and for this reason he mobilized small trains and transported them to the Wuxi area for sale.
These things seem to be nothing, what really made Song Xilian despise Sun Yuanliang was in the defense of Nanjing, Sun Yuanliang's 88th Division was the "elite" defending Nanjing, before the Japanese attack, Sun Yuanliang listened to the drama in Nanjing, ate, drank and had fun, was extremely happy, and almost did not go to the division headquarters.
On the morning of December 12, 1937, the Yuhuatai position fell, and Sun Yuanliang's defense of zhonghua gate entered the range of japanese artillery fire, this time Sun Yuanliang made another mistake, leading the division's direct subordinate units and the 262nd Brigade to retreat without authorization, and met Song Xilian when fleeing.
Song Xilian, who was then the commander of the 36th Division, was defending Jiangmen, and Song Xilian used the gun of the supervision team to "persuade" Sun Yuanliang to return to the Zhonghuamen position, and no one knows how Sun Yuanliang escaped later, in short, Song Xilian despised Sun Yuanliang very much.
During the Liberation War, Sun Yuanliang once again became a "flying general" in the Battle of Huaihai, and he had good luck, pretending to be an aide-de-camp to evade the PLA's interrogation and flee back to Nanjing, as for Qiu Qingquan, Du Yuming, and others, they were either killed or surrendered.
As the saying goes: "Millennium King 80,000 Years Turtle", "Flying General" Sun Yuanliang has no face in the military circles after arriving in Taiwan, he chose to retire from business, once a second-class general became a businessman, has been living until May 25, 2007 before his death, at the age of 103.
