Google was fined 600 million yuan by a Russian court for not deleting the banned information

On December 24, in response to a Russian court fine of 7.2 billion rubles (about 600 million yuan) against Google, Google said it would decide whether to appeal whether to be fined for not deleting banned information after studying the court's ruling.

A Moscow court reportedly announced today that it has fined Google 7.2 billion rubles (about 625 million yuan) for repeatedly failing to remove content deemed illegal by Russia. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time that Russia has fined a company based on revenue in such cases. Previously, Russia has also fined Google several times for not removing illegal internals, but the amount of fines is small.

On December 23, Twitter was fined 3 million rubles (about 260,000 yuan) by a Russian court for failing to remove content deemed illegal by the Rus' government.

In recent months, Russia has taken a series of steps to tighten regulations on U.S. technology companies and restrict access to information online. For this, Apple, Google, Twitter and Facebook have all been punished to varying degrees. (text| AI Finance & Economics)
