Ancient Chinese glass in the War and Han Dynasties

In the last issue, we talked about the ancient Chinese glass products in the War and Han Dynasties, most of its molding patterns are special-shaped rather than round, even if there are a small number of circular instruments, the outer walls of the vessels are mostly high-relief carvings, phoenix patterns, gluttonous patterns and dense and orderly grain patterns, etc., and these high-relief decorations are simply impossible to do by the blowing method.

Observing these ancient glassware, we think that it can only be carried out by casting method, that is, when the inorganic minerals are glassy by heating to the melting point, they are poured into the pre-made mold to form, which is the same as the casting technology of bronze: the copper liquid is injected into the model (inner mold and outer model), the model is removed after cooling the molding, and the product is obtained.

There are many kinds of materials that can be made into models, and the models for making bronzes are mainly pottery molds and wax molds. Of course, at first it may only be a clay mold, and later there will be a metal mold, because in many excavated ancient bronze type induction classification, it is found that some ancient bronzes are basically the same as the type, and it can even be judged that the same model has been reused many times.

As long as the surface of the bronze model is coated with an anti-stick layer, the bronze model can be used to make bronze and can be reused many times.

There is a theory in the cultural and bo expert community that before the emergence of the lost wax method, bronzes mainly used pottery molds, and ceramic molds must be broken before taking out the product, so each bronze is basically a single type and unique. Fart.

Talk about the next issue.
