Xi'an, December 21 (Reporter Alina) Reporters learned from a press conference held by the Information Office of the Shaanxi Provincial Government on the 21st that in this round of epidemics, hidden transmission occurred in Xi'an City, forming a certain scale of community transmission, and there have been spillover cases, affecting Xianyang, Yan'an, Dongguan and Beijing. According to the analysis of experts, the epidemic situation has entered the peak period of case reporting.
From 0:00 to 24:00 on December 20, Shaanxi reported 43 new locally confirmed cases (42 in Xi'an City and 1 in Xianyang City). Since 9 December, the province has reported a cumulative total of 96 locally confirmed cases (91 in Xi'an City, 3 in Yan'an City, and 2 in Xianyang City).
As of 12:00 on December 21, Shaanxi Province had accumulated 7,620 people in close contact with 7,620 people and 17,452 people in the province. At present, Xi'an has designated 1 high-risk area and 13 medium-risk areas.
Up to now, the Shaanxi Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention has sequenced the whole genome of 36 indigenous case specimens, all of which are Delta variants, all of which are highly homologous to the imported cases found in the passengers of Pakistan's inbound flight PK854 on December 4.
