On December 17th, State Grid Chongqing Ultra High Voltage Company innovatively applied the independently developed overhead ground line repair robot, and successfully completed the live repair of the 220 kV Qisheng Line OPGW optical cable, which is also the first time that the State Grid Chongqing Electric Power Company has applied the robot to repair the OPGW optical cable.

OPGW optical cable, also known as optical fiber composite overhead ground line, is to place the optical fiber in the ground line of the overhead high-voltage transmission line, used to form the optical fiber communication network on the transmission line, this structural form has both ground and communication dual functions, OPGW optical cable disconnection is not processed in time, there may be broken strand monofilament and wire distance is too close to cause line failure, threatening the safe and stable operation of the power grid during the peak winter.

At the beginning of December, the transmission operation and maintenance personnel of the State Grid Chongqing Qinan Power Supply Company found that there was a stock break defect between the 220 kV Qisheng Line Tower 59 and the No. 60 Tower. State Grid Chongqing Ultra High Voltage Company has organized the backbone of transmission professionals and technicians to conduct on-site actual survey and measurement for many times, and after research and demonstration, it was finally decided to use the transmission line overhead ground line repair robot for live repair.

The ground line repair robot needs to be climbed by professionals on the No. 59 tower, installed on the OPGW optical cable, and then moved to the broken strand by the ground technician remote control, after completing the automatic repair, the ground line repair robot returns to the same way, and the tower is removed by the personnel to successfully complete the task.

"The ground line repair robot is divided into two parts: the fuselage and the operation monitoring platform, the fuselage is manually erected to the ground line, and the operator controls the robot movement on the ground line through the operation monitoring platform on the ground to repair the loose and broken stock positions, which is independently developed by the ultra-high pressure company." The operation time is about 80 minutes, compared with the traditional live operation, it reduces the time for live operators to walk the line and manually eliminate the shortage, reduces the risk factor of high-altitude work of personnel, and greatly improves the safety of operation. Compared with power outage maintenance, robot live repair can reduce the power outage time by 6 hours, effectively saving economic costs. Wang Haifei, special director of live operation management of the transportation and inspection department of the ultra-high voltage company, introduced.

It is understood that the application of the transmission line overhead ground line repair robot using intelligent perception system and image recognition, remote control, wireless transmission and other technologies, relying on the high-definition camera equipped to accurately capture the location of the ground line break, in the area without network signal through its own wireless network device to transmit the defect situation back to the maintenance personnel. The remote control repair robot of the maintenance personnel implements accurate "stitching" of the overhead ground line breakage defect to eliminate the safety hazard of the line.

In the next step, State Grid Chongqing Electric Power will expand the airborne function of overhead ground line repair robot, carry out single-wire broken stock defect repair and intelligent line inspection, explore the application of ground line pressure takeover flaw detection and other aspects, and improve the efficiency and safety level of maintenance operations.
