FF7RE doesn't have its own "benchmarking" tool, so dsogaming chose the first scene in the first chapter of the game for GPU performance testing, and the first scene in chapter two (with a large number of NPCs on the same screen) for CPU performance testing. In addition, they added "Disable Dynamic Resolution Mod", otherwise higher frame rates would not have been possible.
dsogaming simulated the operation of dual-core, quad-core, and six-core CPUs, respectively, and they found that "FF7RE" does not require a high-end CPU, even a dual-core CPU can guarantee more than 60fps without hyper-threading, but without hyper-threading, it will encounter serious problems such as frame drawing out-of-sync, stuttering, etc.
However, because FF7RE basically only uses single threading, if the thread is fully loaded, turning on hyper-threading will cause additional stuttering; therefore, for four-core, six-core, and eight-core CPUs, turning off hyper-threading is the best choice. (The one who said to start hyper-threading is a dual-core CPU) However, it is best to turn off other programs when running the game to avoid negative effects.
In terms of GPU, the graphics cards used by dsogaming to test can all provide a stable 60-frame experience at 1080p/maximum quality, and even the AMD RX580 can basically reach 60 frames, so although FF7RE does not provide many picture quality options, it is still very smooth to run, and older computers can play freely.
At 1440p/maximum image quality, the four strongest graphics cards used in the test can still stabilize 60fps, and it is interesting that the RX Vega 64 is much smoother than the GTX980Ti.
Under the 4K/highest image quality, the three graphics cards of RTX3080, RX 6900XT, and RTX 2080Ti can still run stably at 60fps, but the effect of RTX3080 is much stronger than that of RX 6900XT, and dsogaming believes that this should be that the A card is not optimized for FF7RE.
Finally, dsogaming said that although many players reported that FF7RE was seriously stuck, they did not encounter obvious stuttering problems, and they even felt that the PC version of FF7RE ran much smoother than games such as Far Cry 6, Halo Unlimited, and Wing Star Survival.
dsogaming suggests: You can try to turn off hyper-threading, use high-speed memory modules, install "disable dynamic resolution mods" and then let the game run at 120fps, forcing the game to start in DX11 mode (plus -dx11 startup items), the above methods can make the game run more smoothly.
In terms of picture quality, dsogaming believes that FF7RE is very beautiful, the character models, environmental scenes are particularly excellent, and many environmental objects can be interacted with and destroyed. And it is worth mentioning that the game's support for keyboard and mouse operation is also very in place, players can smoothly use the mouse to adjust the perspective, they have not encountered problems with mouse acceleration/smoothing, and the key prompts displayed on the screen are also correct.
Overall, dsogaming believes that the PC version of FF7RE has a great gaming experience, and the demand for CPU and GPU is not high. Of course, it is by no means flawless, in addition to the fact that the picture quality setting is almost missing, it may also be a little stuttered during the movement. And the point is that the PC version of the game sells for as much as $70, but it doesn't have any features specifically tailored for the PC (such as light chasing, DLSS, etc.), and even forces dynamic resolution (which is obviously a feature only needed on the console), and must be turned off with mods. Therefore, dsogaming believes that the PC version of FF7RE can wait for the discount before starting, and the original price is not recommended.
