Professor Shen Chunhua graduated from Nanjing University with a master's degree, then pursued a second master's degree at the Australian National University, and after graduation, studied at the University of Adelaide and obtained a doctorate.
In 2011, Professor Shen Chunhua entered the School of Computer Science at the University of Adelaide and has served as a senior lecturer and associate professor.

This paper introduces FCOS (Fully Convolutional One-Stage Object Detection), a pixel-by-pixel object detection algorithm based on a fully convolutional neural network.

The biggest highlight is the introduction of a new object detection algorithm that does not require an anchor free. By removing pre-defined anchor frames, FCOS completely avoids the complex operation of anchor boxes and saves memory footprint during training.
FCOS is close to or even surpasses many of the current mainstream anchor frame-based object detection algorithms in terms of performance.
Professor Shen Chunhua also has a paper published in 2017 that has been cited by more than 2,000. This paper proposes a RefineNet model that enables deeper networks to take advantage of the features of shallow networks through resetual connections.
