"Hu Shanxiang" in "Daming Fenghua" is a woman with quite a heart, and after being deposed later, she also blamed herself. But this was not the case with Empress Hu in history, who was deposed because she gave birth to two princesses and did not give birth to a prince. Empress Hu was deposed without fault, and at that time she also received sympathy and pity from the people.

Hu Shanxiang was the daughter of Hu Rong, who was known for her virtuousness and was chosen as Zhu Zhanji's grand concubine. After Zhu Di's death, the crown prince Zhu Gaozi took the throne. After Zhu Zhanji was made crown prince, Hu Shanxiang was made a crown princess. A year later, Zhu Gaozi died, Zhu Zhanji took the throne, and Hu Shanxiang was made empress.

Although Hu Shanxianggui is the mother of a country, she is loyal and kind, virtuous by nature, solemn in demeanor, and unattractive. Everyone in the palace loved the empress, and Empress Zhang also liked this daughter-in-law. It's just a pity that Zhu Zhanji was fond of Sun Guifei at that time and was relatively cold to Hu Shanxiang. Hu Shanxiang bore Zhu Zhanji two daughters, Princess Shunde and Princess Yongqing, of whom Princess Yongqing died early. Sun Guifei gave birth to the emperor's eldest son Zhu Qizhen, and Sun Guifei was even more favored after that.

Therefore, in the spring of the third year of his reign, Zhu Zhanji ordered Hu Shanxiang to resign from the position of empress on the grounds that Hu Shanxiang did not have a crown prince and was ill. Hu Shanxiang had no choice but to agree. Later, after she was deposed, she lived in Chang'an Palace as a Daoist nun and was also given the title of Jing Ci Immortal Master. Not long after her dethronation, Zhu Zhanji crowned Sun Guifei as empress.

Hu Shanxiang's treatment made Empress Zhang very merciful, and she originally loved this virtuous daughter-in-law. Therefore, she was often summoned to live in the Qingning Palace to accompany her, and at the time of the inner court banquet, Hu Shanxiang was placed above Empress Sun. This incident made Empress Sun very unhappy.

When the people learned that Hu Shanxiang had been deposed without fault, they were extremely sympathetic to this virtuous empress of high moral character. Zhu Zhanji also regretted this in his later years, saying that "this was the impulse of his youth." In the "Biography of the Empress Dowager of the Ming Dynasty", it is recorded that such a sentence is recorded: "After no fault is abolished, the world hears of it and pities it." After Xuanzong, he also repented. Taste the self-explanation: 'This juvenile affair'".

Later, Zhu Zhanji died. Empress Sun's eldest son Zhu Qizhen ascended the throne, and seven years later Empress Dowager Zhang died, leaving Hu Shanxiang in pain. He died the following year after being overly sad. He was buried in Jinshan as a concubine, with the courtesy name of "Jing Ci Immortal Master". In the sixth year of Tianshun, after empress dowager Sun's death, Empress Qian of Zhuqizhen persuaded her to restore her title to the deposed Hou Hu clan. The following year, Zhu Qizhen deposed hou Hu and was honored as "Empress Gongshun Kang Mu Jing Cizhang". He has not yet repaired the mausoleum, and let princess Yongqing be buried.
