Zeng Xiaolian was born in 1939 in Kunming, Yunnan. In 1958, he worked at the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Zeng Xiaolian's paintings accurately depict the scientific characteristics of species with scientific eyes, and use artistic brushstrokes to give fresh life to flowers and birds, which has both scientific and artistic beauty. "People who paint think I'm a botanist, and botanists think I'm painting, but I'm actually 'stepping on two boats.'" Elder Zeng said in a joke with reporters earlier.

Entering the museum, the first thing that comes into sight is the huge tropical rainforest landscape - a section of dead willow trunks has been dismantled and suspended, and each trunk is planted with orchids, ferns, stone pines, and lichen symbiotic plant communities, which together present the most representative "hanging garden" of Xishuangbanna Rainforest. Underneath it are the star species in the Xishuangbanna rainforest: tiger whiskers, giant bird's nest ferns, hooded orchids, Tiannanxing family, ginger family, palm family and other different forms and colors.
Zeng Xiaolian once said that painting illustrations for flora accounts for 80% of his life, and his naturalist paintings add up to more than 2,000, reflecting the morphological characteristics of species, or the relationship between species and species, and the relationship between species and the environment. In the process of painting, he also slowly deepened his understanding of nature, and deeply realized that as a part of nature, human beings should respect nature, conform to nature, and return to nature.

The country garden is planted with rhododendrons, camellias, frangipani, hydrangeas and other flower plants, and when the flowering period arrives, a hundred flowers will bloom here.
"This exhibition hall is a circular structure based on the Pakistan Garden, and behind the circular glass frame are ornamental flowers and plants that we have specially planted, which will be particularly beautiful when they bloom next year." Zhou Zhijian said. Along the circular exhibition hall, Zeng Xiaolian's paintings of flowers and birds were placed on all sides. Behind the circular frame are colonized and buried seeds of various varieties of plateau wildflowers, which will gradually present the wild nature of the "wilderness of the four seasons".

At present, Zeng Xiaolian Art Museum is still in the soft opening period, exhibiting more than 30 flower and bird paintings and manuscripts of Zeng Xiaolian.
