The 2022 Mazda MX-5 is officially released and has been accepted for pre-order in Japan. The new car is expected to be officially launched in mid-January, with a pre-sale price range of 2,623,500 yen to 3,922,600 yen (equivalent to 146,300 to 218,800 yuan).
In terms of appearance, the overall design of Mazda's new MX-5 is basically the same as that of the old model, and the front face adopts a large-mouth multi-banner grille and is blackened. The body is designed in a two-door sports car style and offers multi-spoke aluminium wheels in bright colors and black paint. The rear of the car still uses a one-sided double-out exhaust layout, continuing to retain the classic double-circle LED taillight set.
In terms of interior, Mazda's new MX-5 is equipped with a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel, and is equipped with a classic three-gun barrel mechanical pointer instrument panel, a floating LCD central control screen above the center console, and a traditional mechanical gear shift mechanism and a mechanical handbrake below. In addition, for the first time, the new car incorporates the Platinum Quartz Metallic body coating and offers a new Terracotta Nappa leather interior kit.
It is reported that the most important upgrade of the new car is the addition of KPC (Motion Attitude Control) technology, which can control the suspension so that the vehicle has a smoother body attitude under different dynamics to improve vehicle stability.
At the same time, the 2022 Mazda MX-5 will also launch a 990s version, which will further reduce the under-spring mass and apply more lightweight chassis and engine technology, making the vehicle weigh only 990kg, truly achieving a "man-horse" light driving sense. The new car will only be supplied with a 6-speed manual transmission for 2,893,000 yen (161,400 yuan). In addition, the new car is equipped with front opposing 4-piston calipers that match the brembo's large-sized ventilated disc and feature forged rims.
Powered by a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine, the car has a maximum power of 132 hp and a peak torque of 152 Nm.
