It is said that it is unfortunate to be born in the family of the emperor; and what is even more unfortunate than being born in the family of the emperor is to marry in the family of the emperor. Puyi's third concubine, Tan Yuling, was such an unfortunate woman.
This is a wax figure of Tan Yuling that was restored from an old photograph. This wax figure, 1.6 meters high, graceful posture, facial features Peugeot; a pair of Dan phoenix eyes, two curved willow eyebrows light color; fair skin, black hair; with satin green cheongsam, the standard image of oriental beauty.
Such a beautiful woman suffered a tragic disaster at the age of 23 (1942).
After Tan Yuling's death, Puyi held a solemn funeral for her despite the threat of the Japanese. At that time, dozens of residents of Changchun City came to visit, and its funeral was the "most luxurious" at that time.
After the funeral, Puyi put an old photo of Tan Yuling on the desk in the bedroom, and whenever he missed her, he would pick up the photo and look at it. Behind this photo, Puyi personally inscribed a sentence:
"My dearest Jade Age."
In just eight words, Puyi used two adjectives "my" and "dearest", which fully revealed Puyi's love, and the object of Puyi's "love" expression was his third concubine, Tan Yuling. In order to re-emphasize this "love", Puyi deliberately used a nickname, omitting Tan Yuling's surname and affectionately calling her "Yuling".
This kind of overflowing "love" is really touching.
The handwriting in the picture is "My Dearest Jade Age" written by Puyi himself.
These few words, from the perspective of the bystander, ordinary can no longer be ordinary, and even some are not good-looking!
However, beyond the ordinary, there is a hint of doubt:
You know, after Puyi abdicated again, the imperial family found the top Chinese scholars for him at that time, specially taught him to read and write, and Puyi followed them for ten years! If he really took out the "results" pictured above, would his teachers be blind to Jiuquan?
The handwriting in this picture, also written by Puyi himself, was "given by the emperor" to Zang Shiyi, the then pseudo-Liaoning governor.
In this calligraphy and painting, Puyi's characters are horizontal and vertical, standardized and atmospheric, and completely lose the feeling of "hairless brush poking" in the picture above. Another detail is that the words behind Tan Yuling's photo are written from left to right, and it is already a matter after liberation to have such a writing order.
At this time, it has been at least 8 years since Tan Yuling died!
In these 8 years, Puyi took another concubine and experienced a series of encounters such as the defeat of the puppet state of Manchukuo, the escape after the defeat, being captured in the Soviet Union as a prisoner, and being repatriated to China for reform.
After experiencing so many things, Puyi has always kept a photo of Tan Yuling, and hid it close to his shirt pocket for decades.
In 1959, Puyi was released from the War Criminals Management Center with a small number of "imperial relics", including a photograph of Tan Yuling and her ashes. It is said that the handwriting behind the photo was written by Puyi when he was in the war criminals management center because he missed Tan Yuling and became ill and went dark.
Later, under the arrangement of his superiors, Puyi married Li Shuxian and began the fifth marriage.
In the eyes of outsiders, the marriage between Puyi and Li Shuxian is sweet and beautiful. But behind the scenes, Li Shuxian often lost his temper with Puyi, the reason is because Puyi always treasured Tan Yuling's photos, and the family also specially vacated a room to place Tan Yuling's ashes.
Just think, what woman would be willing to live in the heart of her own man, living with another woman?

In 1967, Puyi completed his ups and downs in his life, and before his death, Puyi said to the people around him: "I hope to be buried with Tan Yuling." For various reasons, Puyi's wish was ultimately not realized.
